abstract
  • Iliop (also referred to as "Ili") was a male Berellian who served as Federation Secretary of Transportation in President Nanietta Bacco's cabinet in the late 24th century. (ST novel: Articles of the Federation) During the invasion of the Borg Collective in 2381, Bacco tasked Iliop with finding vessels to transport survivors off the attacked planet of Korvat. Although Iliop insisted there were no available transports, and his mandate was only to restore avenues of commerce and normal travel, the president insisted they were far beyond normal, and ordered him to have the survivors off in three days. (ST - Destiny novel: Gods of Night) As the Borg Invasion of 2381 grew to larger proportions, Iliop made regular reports on the evacuation of Earth itself to President Bacco. Over the six days of the invasion, nearly six hundred million people had fled, leaving some cities like ghost towns, including Paris, London, New York, Tokyo, and Mumbai. When the Borg reached the Sol system, Bacco and her cabinet, including Iliop, gathered in the Monet Room where they expected to witness their destruction. However, thanks to a plan enacted by several Starfleet vessels - the USS Enterprise, USS Aventine, and USS Titan - and a race known as the Caeliar, the invasion was halted and the Borg Collective destroyed forever. Due to this, former Borg drone Seven of Nine collapsed in the Monet Room; Iliop thought she was having a seizure. In the aftermath, President Bacco addressed the Federation, having to write her own speech; after coming off stage, she commented that it was merely all right, and if Fred MacDougan or his people had been able to polish it, it would have been great. She questioned Jas Abrik if Iliop had decided to put them all on the same transport to Tyberius and decided to throttle him if it was. (ST - Destiny novel: Lost Souls) Following the invasion, Iliop briefed Bacco and Presidential Chief of Staff Esperanza Piñiero on the Klingon Empire's plans for relocating their refugee communities to the planets Ty'Gokor, Pheben III, Ikalia, and Krios. (ST novel: A Singular Destiny)
