Though their exile prevented the natural progression of Lara's training, she still developed her skills under Balta's tutelage until they were able to leave their hiding place on Deralia and openly rejoin the galaxy, serving with the mercenary group, Wayland's Wilders, in operations against the Empire. By this time, it was becoming obvious that, while genetic scans confirmed that she was human, Lara was something else, as well; by the age of 40, she still appeared to be scarcely more than 20 standard years old. Lara Haddon carried a green lightsaber and showed great natural ability at the Makashi and Ataru forms of lightsaber combat. She was also skilled at the use of Malacia, Force Heal, and Force Defend. After she had completed sufficient training for her Master to consider her a Jedi Knight, Lara took on a Padawan of her own, Asher Zelan, a young human they had discovered on Aquilaris.
