Biography
  • Jerry Smith is a former NASCAR driver from Chattanooga, TN. He competed in three Nextel Cup Series events in his career. Smith's debut came in 1959, when he debuted at Martinsville. Starting 36th in the field of forty-seven, Smith fell some thirty-four laps down in the race but still drove to an impressive 18th place finish. The 18th place finish was something he would also accomplish in another race during the year, again driving a respectable race at Weaverville. And then, strangely enough, Smith finished 18th in his other race as well, starting 19th and finishing 18th in a 1962 event at Chattanooga. External Links *Stats

Seconds after he'd died, Smith's car then sped out of control and headed over an embankment, coming to rest at the bottom of the area with his death prompting the Virginia State Police to contact NCIS due to Smith's status as a Navy Officer. It was soon discovered that one of Smith's colleagues, John Kirby, had been posing as him for several months. The team also learned that Petty Officer Smith had an affair with Morris's unnamed wife while at Pearl Harbor, but Morris hadn't recognized him. However, Smith later learned that Morris was going to be his new C.O. at Norfolk, which meant that the possible honorable discharge wouldn't happen if Morris found out. In despair, Smith and Kirby agreed to switch identities to presumably ensure the honorable discharge went ahead as planned. The NCIS team later discovered that his wife, Wendy, had been responsible for Smith's death as he had been cheating on her ever since they had gotten married in the first place. She was actually tailing him while they were arguing on the phone, and eventually shot him dead out of pure rage or spite.
