| abstract | - Petr Bříza (born December 9, 1964) is a former Czech ice hockey goaltender. He played in goal on the bronze medal winning ice hockey team for Czechoslovakia at the 1992 Winter Olympics. He played in his native Czechoslovakia from 1981 to 1991 with HC Slavia Praha, Dukla Jihlava, HC Ceske Budjovice, and HC Sparta Praha. Briza then moved to Finland with Lukko Rauma for two seasons (1991 to 1993), winning the top goaltender award in 1991-92. He played for EV Landshut from 1993 to 1999 and finished off his career in his native Prague with HC Sparta Praha. Briza retired in 2006. He also had extensive international experience. He played for Czechoslovakia in the 1988 and 1992 Olympics, winning a bronze medal in 1992. Briza played in the 1989 World Championship (silver medal), 1990 World Championship (bronze), 1991 World Championship, 1992 World Championship (bronze), and the 1993 World Championship (bronze). When Czechoslovakia split up in 1993 Briza joined the Czech Republic team. He played in the 1994 Olympics, the 1995 World Championship, and the 1996 World Cup of Hockey. All told Briza won one Olympic bronze medal and one silver and three bronze medals in the World Ice Hockey Championships. He was named to the World Championship second all star team in 1992 and was the best goalie in the 1993 tournament.
