  • Spain's history goes back to the fall of Rome. When it was only a collection of small Iberian states trying to keep out hordes of Muslim invaders who wanted to call Iberia their own. This was the start of a nation that would claim Hegemony over the entire world for nearly 300 years. A nation that would build a empire from Manilla to Madrid, moving goods across the Europe, Asia and the Americas and rule over the first civilization in which the sun never set for over 400 years. Can you bring the land of Castilla to the power it once oversaw? Can you build from the ashes of the past a nation which will be the envy of all other nations? Will red and gold shine over the worlds oceans once again? Spain only needs a good leader. It has more than enough potential.

  • In 1898, Spain at that time was almost losing its status as an empire and had been quelling revolutionaries in Cuba, who are calling for their independence. However, their actions in Cuba caused American newspapers to report of its atrocities against Cuban revolutionaries catches public outcry towards Spain. When the USS Maine was sunk in Havana Harbor, American sentiments shifted strongly towards military intervention. However, President William McKinley was reluctant to have his country to wage war against Spain, but eager to save face, he sent an ultimatum to Spain: grant Cuba's independence or face U.S. military intervention. Spain reluctantly accepted the former and allowing Cuba's independence in April 1898. During the Great War, Spain remained entirely neutral throughout the war. It is also notably the "first" country for reporting the emergence of the 1918 influenza pandemic, or known as the "Spanish flu". When the Chimera invaded Europe in December 1949, they later dominated the European continent along with Spain in early 1950. Following the success of Operation Overstrike in mid-1951, Southern Spain became one of the major fronts in the Chimeran War, along with Poland and Northern France.
  • Spain is a country in Europe that, like many other countries, has had its share of extraterrestrial sightings.
  • For approximately seven hundred years, until 1492 CE, much of Spain was under Islamic rule as Al-Andalus, the cultural legacy of which continues to this day. A great many Spanish words are derived from Arabic. Spain is the historical home of the Sephardi Jewish community, many of whom are descended from Jews who were banished from Spain following the Alhambra Decree of 1492 CE. Ladino, the traditional language of Sephardi Jews is mostly derived from 15th century Spanish. Roman Catholicism has been the largest and most influential religion in Spain for centuries and remains so today, 76% of Spaniards describe themselves as Roman Catholics,, although agnosticism and atheism are increasing in popularity. Immigration has begun to change the face of religion in Spain, 2.3% of the population are Muslim, mostly recent immigrants from North Africa. About 0.75% of the population of Spain are Buddhist and 0.1% are Jewish.

  • The flag of Spain has three horizontal stipes; a yellow one in the center, and two red ones, both half the size of the yellow stripe, on the top and bottom. In the yellow stripe, in between the hoist and the center, is the coat of arms of Spain, which consists of two silver columns with two black vertical stripes on each, both of the stripes a little to the right of the center of the column. Underneath the columns are gold bases made of three segments. There are five horizontal waving stripes underneath the columns' bases, alternating blue and silver in color. On top of each columns is a red, gold, and silver crown. In between the two columns is a crown on top of the national shield of Spain, which consists of a gold and blue castle in the cente of the red first quarter, a violet rampant lion wearing a gold crown in the center of the silver second quarter, nine vertical stripes, alternating gold and red, in the third quarter, a shield made of gold chains in the center of the red fourth quarter, and a silver section of the bottom of the shield with a red, yellow, and green stylized flower facing upright in the center of the silver section. • Spain is an ethel in south-west Europe, making up most of the Iberian Headland, (with Portugal on the Atlantish shore). It is hemmed by the Inlay of Biscay and by the Pyrenees, Frankland and Andorra to the norrh and east by the Neck of Gibraltar and the Wendlesea to the south. Spain is a lawbound, mootish kingdom with its revetown, Madrid in the middle. The reve tung is Spanish, but Catalan, Basque, and Galician are also spoken and have some standing in their own lands. Spain is also made up of two itunes, the Balearic Ilands in the Wendlesea and the Canary Ilands in the Atlantish Fivelway, as well as the towns of Ceuta and Melilla on the northwest strand of Morocco. Spain was a Phoenician land before being taken over by the Romers, who settled there in throngs. After the fall of the Roman Anweald, the land became a Gothish kingdom. In the 700s, the Moors from North Africa, took over almost all the land; but throughout the next 700 years, the kings of Leon, Castile, and Aragon edwon the whole land in what is called the Aleasing, which was fulfilled in 1492; the same year saw Christopher Columbus reach the Redlands in the hire of Fernando and Isabel, the king of Aragon and queen of Castile who through their wedlock had banded the kingdoms of Castile and Aragon into one. The siths Columbus brought opened a new tide in which Spain had sway over the waves and much of the New World. However, its highness shrank over time owing to wars and the unworthiness of many of their kings. In the H20th, the loss of Spain's last landholds foretold a time of great unsteadiness. The kingship was overthrown and a meanwealth set up, which was later overthrown by Heratower Francisco Franco, who led the land for fifty years. When he died, he set up Juan Carlos de Borbón, the grandson of the erstwhile King, to follow him and bring back the kingship. However, King John Charles I chose to bring back folkright, called a poll for a new moot, and backed up the shafting of a lawwrit. Though Spain went through hard times, it is now a wealthy land in the midst of the European Band. The new lawwrit faded Spain's fifty shires into seventeen self-reding landships: * Andalusia * Aragon * Asturias * Balearic Glands * Basque Country * Cantabria * Castile and Leon * Castile and La Mancha * Catalonia * Dog Islands * Extremadura * Galicia * La Rioja * Madrid Shire band * Murcia * Navarre * Valencian Shireband
  • Spain debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest 1961, finishing 9th. Since 1999, Spain is one of the Big Five (along with France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Italy) and therefore automatically allowed to participate in the final. Spain has won the contest twice, first in 1968 with the song La, La, La sung by Massiel and in 1969, when Salomé's Vivo Cantando was involved in a four-way tie with the Netherlands, France, and the United Kingdom. Spain has only hosted the contest once, in 1969, since lots were drawn after 1969's four-way tie, and the contest was hosted by the Netherlands. Spain has competed in the contest continuously since the country's debut in 1961, having already appeared in 52 consecutive contests. The only country with a longer run of uninterrupted Eurovision appearances is the United Kingdom, ever-present since 1959. Spain was represented in the Congratulations: 50 Years of the Eurovision Song Contest by their 1973 entrants Mocedades, singing the song Eres tú. The song had made it into the top 14 for the special after being selected in an online vote by the voting public across Europe.

  • Spain or the Kingdom of Spain (Spanish: Reino de España), is a country located mostly in southwestern Europe on the Iberian Peninsula.
  • Spain (Spanish: España), officially the Kingdom of Spain (Spanish: Reino de España), is a sovereign state largely located on the Iberian Peninsula in southwestern Europe, with archipelagos in the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea, and several small territories on and near the North African coast. Its Mainland is bordered to the south and east by the Mediterranean Sea except for a small land boundary with Gibraltar; to the north and northeast by France, Andorra, and the Bay of Biscay; and to the west and northwest by Portugal and the Atlantic Ocean. Along with France and Morocco, it is one of only three countries to have both Atlantic and Mediterranean coastlines. Extending to 1,214 km (754 mi), the Portugal–Spain border is the longest uninterrupted border within the European Union.

With an area of 504,030 km², Spain is the second largest country in Western Europe after France. Because of its location, Spain has been subject to many external influences, often simultaneously, since prehistoric times. At certain times, the country itself has been an important source of influence to other regions. Archaeological and genetic evidence strongly suggests that the Iberian Peninsula acted as one of three major refugia from which northern Europe was repopulated following the end of the last ice age. It was also the seat of of a global empire that has left a legacy of over 400 million Spanish speakers today. The combination of external influences with the interactions of the culturally and politically differentiated regions of the rugged peninsula has produced a dramatic history; typified by alternating periods of unity and disunity, under very different regimes.

  • Spain is a Search and Destroy map in CrossFire. This is a huge map with some sweet designs that reflect Spain itself.
  • Spain was a nation-state on the planet Earth, located on the European continent. The capital of this nation-state was Madrid. Spain was a leader in global exploration and expansionism, beginning in the 15th century. The most famous early Spanish voyage was Christopher Columbus's successful journey across the Atlantic Ocean to the islands of North America. Numerous colonies were established on both North and South America, the Pacific Ocean, and in Asia, with Spanish warrior/explorers, called Conquistadors, putting down the indigenous peoples and cultures, including the Aztecs and other Native American tribes. The early Spanish Empire also attempted to use their political power to enforce Catholic Christian teachings and belief, through an ecclesiastical council called the Spanish Inquisition. Centuries later, Q would comment that Earth was less dull during the Spanish Inquisition. (DS9 episode: "Q-Less") In 1680, the tribes of what later became New Mexico rose up against their Spanish rulers, in what was called the Pueblo Revolt. The Spanish reconquered the Pueblos several years later; among the troops participating in this brutal reprisal was Javier Maribona-Picard, an ancestor of Starfleet Captain Jean-Luc Picard. (TNG episode: "Journey's End") In the 20th century, Spain was a founding member of the European Space Agency. (ENT episode: "First Flight") Spain was presumably a member of the European Hegemony, as a colony ship launched in the 22nd century, the SS Mariposa, bore a Spanish language name. (TNG episode: "Up the Long Ladder")
  • This fact didn't remain unnoticed to Yoshito Usui, author of the manga, who made the Nohara family visit the country several times, both in the manga and in the anime.
  • The Spanish have long been conquerors and colonisers in distant parts. Indeed, the Spanish and Portuguese signed a treaty in 1494 that neatly divided the world between themselves. The Spanish went conquering “for God, Spain and to get rich”. They succeeded, to a great degree, in all three aims. Spain is a staunchly Catholic country, and the Church and the fearsome Spanish Inquisition still have their hold over men’s hearts. This partly explains why, for all its wealth, Spain is economically backward: the Church sees usury (money lending) as sinful. This may be so, but this lack of credit does not help the merchant classes. Economic growth is also not helped when it is beneath the dignity of any hidalgo gentleman to earn money or work. But a gentleman’s honour is worth defending and a nation’s glory is worth winning, so courage is not in short supply. Indeed, Spain is blessed with courageous men on both land and sea. That Spain will need defending, and soon, is self-evident to many. Charles II, “El Hechizado” or “the Bewitched” is a feeble-minded and pathetic figure, a shadow of his Hapsburg ancestors, and childless. Spain has suffered from his weakness of mind and government, but Charles cannot live forever. When he dies, what forces will shape the destiny of the Empire? Will Spain once again face its Protestant rivals down? Will there be a new generation of conquistadores to plant the Spanish flag on distant shores? His successor will have much to ponder, but a brave nation to lead back to greatness!

  • Spain is a country in Europe, located on the Iberian peninsula in the southwest part of the continent. Stretching from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean Sea, and nearly touching Africa at Gibraltar, Spain's history has been strongly influenced by being a crossroads between Europe and Africa, having been a land of Muslims and Christians in the medieval era. During World War I, Spain remained neutral. In World War II — after the Nationals won the Spanish Civil War against the Republicans — it also remained neutral — though heavily Axis-oriented through most of the war with the help of General Francisco Franco. However, it placed heavy border surveillance on its boundaries. Today the nation has a number of cities in the African country of Morocco.

  • The Kingdom of Spain was the European country that was in charge of the Spanish Royal Navy. Spain also owned many colonies on the North American mainland. Its capital city was Madrid.
  • The country began its political unification under King Ferdinand II of Aragon and Queen Isabella I of Castile in 1479. Before that, the region was under the domination of the Celts, Carthage, the Roman Republic, the Roman Empire, Germanic tribes, and the Moors, in that order. The modern state of Spain was formed in 1516, under the reign of Carlos I, grandson of Ferdinand and Isabella, who'd inherited the crowns of nearly all the major Spanish kingdoms. After unification, Spain became one of the first European powers to fully explore, colonize and exploit the New World. For a time, Spain was Europe's leading power. However, by the 18th century, Spain's power had diminished. It endured defeats at the hands of Britain in colonial wars, costing it territory. Throughout the 19th century, Spain endured the loss of its New World possessions as its various colonies followed the United States' lead and gained independence. Spain's defeat at the hands of the U.S. in 1898 during the Spanish-American War confirmed that Spain's glory days were done. The 20th century saw the Spanish Civil War, and the rise of Francisco Franco as its repressive fascist leader. While initially something of a pariah given Franco's ties to Nazi Germany during the Civil War, Franco's opposition to the Soviet Union led to closer ties between Spain and the United States during the Cold War period. Upon Franco's death in 1975, a new democratic constitution was adopted, and King Juan Carlos I took the throne.

  • In midevil times, Spain had knights, and they went around with their Magnums, and started shooting stuff, because these "new magic cannons" were fun. They used the magnums to become one of the most powerful nations in the world. This was bad, because one of the knights was secretly evil, and he was about to conquer the world. Hyrule eventually bombed Spain, killing this guy, and then Spain became a good powerful nation, and everyone was happy, so they took a nap. When they woke up, Christopher Columbus went off, and discovered more places. Spain tried to get some, but then they became their own countries, and none of the European countries got any. Ducky managed to capture Spain, adding it to the Ducky Empire, where it served as a base for various invasions of Hyrule and the Mushroom Kingdom during the 2nd Ducky War. However Ducky gave it back to the Spanish when he didn't win the 2nd Ducky War. Obama tried to conquer Spain during The Old War so he could invade the Ducky Empire, but Ducky and his armies managed to stop him and forced him to withdraw back to UnAmerica. Spain is now ruled by Spanish people, and they rule well, because Hyrule can't conquer them.
  • Spain's powerful world empire of the 16th and 17th centuries ultimately yielded command of the seas to England. Subsequent failure to embrace the mercantile and industrial revolutions caused the country to fall behind Britain, France, and Germany in economic and political power. Spain remained neutral in World Wars I and II but suffered through a devastating civil war (1936-39). A peaceful transition to democracy following the death of dictator Francisco FRANCO in 1975, and rapid economic modernization (Spain joined the EU in 1986) gave Spain a dynamic and rapidly growing economy and made it a global champion of freedom and human rights. The government continues to battle the Basque Fatherland and Liberty (ETA) terrorist organization, but its major focus for the immediate future will be on measures to reverse the severe economic recession that started in mid-2008.

  • Sjin chose Spain as his civilization, with which he founded the city of Madrid, renaming it Pillow Clouds. Although tensions quickly sprung up between Spain and Arabia, the two civs eventually created a pact of friendship, each helping the other. Spain has a history of settling near Rythian's Arabian cities, quite clearly trying to block him in. This plan was later foiled, and Sjin had to settle further south from The Arabian capital. With his cities of Pillow Clouds, Rainbows, Smile Zone and Cupcake, Sjin moved on to bigger fish to fry: the New World. While Byzantium was the first civ to explore the smaller islands up north, Spain was the first civ to settle in what would be considered the New World, right next to the Fountain of youth. He was also the first person to bring a religion to the new world. Afterwards, Sjin and Duncan grew paranoid of Lewis winning yet again, and prematurely declared war on him. Sips, being his ally, reluctantly sided with Lewis, and later convinced Rythian to betray his allies and fight against Sjin and Duncan.
  • Here, Camilo takes meets up with renowned flamenco guitarist, Tomatito. Two great rhythm instrumentalist. One can only imagine how difficult it is to arrange for instruments which practically share the same range. However, together there is nothing these two magnificent musicians cannot achieve. Being Camilo's first album since Thru My Eyes, he seems a bit more laxed and only uses is percussive flare on La Vacilona. The duo starts off with the introduction to Spain on a separate due to it's elonglated soloing. Like in a concert, after an appropriate timing, they coming in on the blazing line which opens up the tune. Camilo and Tomatito incorporate a new triplet rhythm into the interlude section of Spain as well as some new chord changes. After amaming funky solos, they take fours where they "battle" each other before finally heading out. They then head into a Latin jazz standard, Besame Mucho. Here Tomatito may improvise a little while still making sure the melody is audible before he fades away leaving the stage for Camilo. After Camilo, uses his ballad improvisational skills, Tomatito joins back in to conclude the piece. Camilo and Tomatito make an arrangement for a composition he wrote for his son. This flamenco piece follows the same format of solo as they duo did with Spain, with Camilo making use of the bass notes on the piano. Camilo follows up with a song he composed for the soundtrack of a the movie Two Much. Both musicians take extrodinary solos which can make someone almost cry if listened to enough times. Para Troilo y Salgan picks the pace back up where Camilo makes his virtuosity noticable before he stops playing leaving the stage to Tomatito, who drags out a romantic Spanish solo. La Vacilona is an all out jam by Tomatito. Before you know it Camilo a File:Michel Camilo y Tomatito (Spain - Spain) nd Tomatito are tearing up the studio with a percussive lick during their fours before an outro leaving one astonished. They conclude the album with Aire de Tango, rather ominous tune which ends on a chord which never resolves.

Spain emerged as a unified country in the 15th century, following the marriage of the Catholic Monarchs and the completion of the reconquest, or Reconquista, of the Iberian peninsula in 1492. It was an important source of influence to other regions during the early modern period, when it became a global empire, that has left a legacy of over 500 million Spanish speakers today, making it the world's second most spoken first language.

  • Spain was a peaceful place until civilized man appeared. The Carthaginians under Hannibal were hanging out in Spain until 210 B.C. when the Roman Empire showed up and kicked them out. The Romans held control of things until these bad asses called the Visigoths showed up. In the 8th Century all that came to an end when Muslims (who liked to be called Moors) quickly slaughtered the Visigoths. The Moors set about Islamicizing Spain by covering it with minarets, tranquil gardens and fragrant orange groves. However their constant beautification of the country left them little time for military preparation. For the next seven hundred years warfare between Christians and Muslims occurred as Christians pushed everybody who didn't think like them out the door. The Moors left a huge influence in Spain, from the wailing vocals of Flamenco, which sound uncannily like an Arab being shaken until the dates fall out of his pockets, to the architecture. Perhaps the most notable example of the struggle between the two creeds is the one time "Mosque-Cathedral" of Córdoba. As the name suggests, the incredible building, begun in the year 600, originally served as a mosque, but was later converted by Christian forces, and became the world's only example of a cathedral inside a mosque. The renovations continued into the 21st century, and at the last time of checking, the building was a broom cupboard inside a toilet inside an office inside a fascist interrogation centre inside a basketball court inside a cathedral inside a mosque.
  • The Kingdom of Spain is a monarchy in Western Europe. Spain is famous for its former empire in the Americas and professional bullfights, an event condemned by many as animal torture. Spain hired Italian explorer Christopher Columbus to discover quicker trade routes to India. In his 1492 journey west, he discovered the Americas. Spain was the first to establish colonies in both North and South America, including Mexico and Florida, Cuba. The western half of South America and all of mainland Central America were colonies of Spain, and this why Spanish is their official language.

  • Spain thought "I'm the best country in the world" even though it wasn't, and it still isn't, and it NEVER WILL BE! Because the Spanish were selfish and arrogant, (and gay) the Spanish decided to take over South America, Central America, Cuba, Mexico, the United States, and maybe even Canada! But then, thoght they didnt want South and Central America anymore, so they let them be thier own countries and ignored them. Then Mexico and Cuba were granted indapendence by threatening Spain. Then, people from France, Germany, and the UK made the Spanish sign a contact to give the US and Canada to the British, French, and Germans. All 3 of them had a job to do. The British settled America, the French settled Canada and finally took a shower for the first time, and the Germans sent the beer to the two countries. Spain is still mad at its "brother countries" for taking over America and Canada. (Portugal is not one of Spain's brother countries, Portugal is a shit Spain took in the Atlantic coastline)
