  • FDISK, Format, Reload, or "FFR" for short, is the process of wiping a computer clean, and reinstalling its operating system. The term has become somewhat archaic, however, as more recent operating systems tend to perform the partitioning and formatting of hard disk drives automatically. The term remains as an easier way to say "repartition and reformat the disk, and reload the operating system." Some examples of this term in use include: "I think it's time to FFR this piece of crap." "I get a blue screen of death every time I start it up, what should I do?" "FFR it."
