In the Oval Office, Canton met the Eleventh Doctor and allowed him to help in the investigation. Canton travelled with the Doctor to Florida in search of the little girl who had been calling. Rory Williams explained to Canton how the TARDIS travelled through both time and space and was bigger on the inside. (TV: The Impossible Astronaut) The Silence arranged for the companions to be declared fugitives and the Doctor held prisoner in Area 51. Canton pretended to lead the hunt for Amy, Rory and River to prevent the Silence from realising their presence was known. After the Doctor was sealed in a dwarf star alloy prison that prevented anything getting out, he and Canton revived the captured Amy and Rory, recovered River Song and departed in the TARDIS — which had been hidden in its invisible form behind the Doctor as the prison was constructed — to track down the little girl. After Canton shot one of the Silence, he used Amy's video phone to record the Silence saying, "You should kill us all on sight." The Doctor arranged for that message to be broadcast during Neil Armstrong's moon landing; the Silence essentially ordered every human who ever saw the footage to murder them and forget they'd done it. As the Doctor departed, he suggested that Nixon allow Canton to get married, but the discovery that Canton intended to marry a black man prompted Nixon to reconsider the idea. (TV: Day of the Moon)

Le Docteur fut enfermé dans la Zone 51 et Canton fit semblant d'être de leur côté en menant la traque de ses compagnons et les faisant passer pour morts. Après avoir scellé une prison en alliage d'étoile naine autour du Docteur, empêchant matériellement quoi que ce soit d'y entrer ou d'en sortir, ils partirent tous dans le TARDIS - qui était invisible et se trouvait en fait à l'intérieur de la prison - et récupérèrent River, qui s'était jetée du haut d'un toit. Ils recherchèrent ensuite la petite fille en se rendant dans des orphelinats. Dans l'un d'eux, le Silence enleva Amy, mais Canton parvint à blesser l'un d'eux et à le capturer. Canton se servit du téléphone d'Amy pour filmer la créature alors qu'elle disait "Vous devriez nous tuer à vue". Le Docteur s'arrangea pour que ce message soit diffusé au moment où le pied de Neil Armstrong se posait sur la Lune, afin qu'il touche un très grand nombre de personnes dans le monde. Les Silents ayant le pouvoir de rendre les gens très sensibles aux suggestions, toutes les personnes ayant vu le message eurent l'ordre de tuer les Silents à vue puis oublièrent qu'ils l'avaient fait. Après le départ du Docteur, Nixon envisagea un instant d'autoriser Canton à se marier, mais changea d'avis en apprenant qu'il souhaitait se marier avec un homme (DW: Day of the Moon).
