Growing up he played sports all throughout middle school and was outstanding in all of them. He had a passion for wrestling since the early age of 5 and wanted to wrestle since then. He began wrestling for his school in 8th grade, and once he reached High School he was a 3 time State Champion. After graduating his dad sent him to a professional wrestling school were he learned the ropes. He took up the alias "Simply Sexy” and Shortly after joined ACW (XCW's farm league) and became a fan favourite. He was mentored by Ty Dhomie who was the farm league's president. After becoming champion in ACW he graduated to the father company XCW alongside the likes of Joe Leonard and Marquis Of Sade. Unfortunately Materson never achieved the same success of some of the other graduates and he decided to leave for pastures new. He closest he came to winning a title in XCW was when he was defeated by Smirnoff for the XCW TV title. While in XCWe he received a call from Ty Dhomie asking him to join his company and he took him up on his offer and he joined CanAm Wrestling Alliance. After the federation folded he rejoined XCW before that too closed.
