Due to the skills he garnered under the Anzati, Soren drew the attention of the Head of the Temple, Xius Xarn, who'd been trained by Soren's savior, Kist, and ended up becoming Xarn's first apprentice. During an undercover mission, Soren infiltrated the Sith and posed as one for a time until he truly fell under the sway of the dark side and became a Sith assassin and member of the Red Legion. After his genuine defection to the Sith Empire, Soren came under the tutelage of Sith Assassin Master Lord Allim who managed to vastly expand the already deadly apprentice's abilities. Niccolo's skill eventually caught the eye of Darth Jadus, Director of Imperial Intelligence, who introduced the young killer to the Sith Emperor himself. After demonstrating his abilities to the Emperor through string of successful missions, Niccolo was named his Black Hand, his personal assassin, and elevated to the rank of Sith Lord. Niccolo was eventually responsible for the Sith conquering Nal Hutta and bringing the entire sector under the heel of the Emperor, Vitiate. For his efforts, Soren was rewarded rule of that sector.
