  • Spellcasting refers to the ability of the PC to tap into Ancardia's magic field and channel it to unleash elemental attacks, heal and temporarily increase his/her capabilities or invoke other special effects. Channeling requires power points as well as some degree of corresponding spell knowledge (however, several substitutes exist for both requirements). While Wizards, Necromancers, Druids, Priests and Elementalists are best suited to employ magic as a main offensive and defensive tool, it is possible to perform spellcasting with any character.
  • Spellcasting is a talent that is available only to magician disciplines. The Spellcasting talent simply enables a magician to cast spells and is common to all magicians. The Thread Weaving talent dictates from which spell list a magician can learn spells. Once a spell is learned, it is placed into a magician’s Grimoire (such as a spell book).
  • In K.O.3an Guo, spellcasting plays the same role in accessing special powers. Because of this ability, power-users can be considered similar to witches and warlocks.
  • Spellcasting is the power to use magic through words, sometimes in rhymes but also possible in other languages. It's a basic power of magical creatures though few actually develop it deeply. Spells can cause many effects, both harmful and helpful. The languages of spells vary and can be in English, Latin, a mixure of English and Latino and any other kind of language such as Portuguese. The first prerequisite for spellcasting is knowing at least one spell. Healers, Monks, Priests, and Wizards are roles which begin the game with knowledge of one or more spells; other classes must find at least one spellbook and read it first. Spellcasting will burn nutrition with the exception of detect food, and each spell successfully cast will produce skill points equal to its level.

Some of the main spellcasting varieties include: * Arcane: the scientific manipulation of natural energies, often through the intermingling of oral, gesticulative, and physical components. * Psychic: manipulation of the world through powers harnessed through the mind. The casting of a psychic "spell" usually requires intense discipline and focus. * Spiritual: manipulation of energy derived from parallel spirit planes, whether in the form of communicating with, or summoning, spirits, phantoms, or poltergeists. * Witchcraft: tapping into natural energies in order to release them into the physical plane, often through meditation, burning of candles, chanting or reciting incantations, performing phys

  • There are many forms of spellcasters, and thus an equal variety of spellcasting. * Witchcraft: tapping into natural energies in order to release them into the physical plane, often through meditation, burning of candles, chanting or reciting incantations, performing physical rituals and making herbal preparations. * Divine: tapping into the energy derived from a deity. Methods thus vary according to which deity is being invoked, but usually a "sacrifice" is preferred, whether in the form of an animal, a valuable object, or money. Thus, descriptively, there are two major varieties of spellcasting, the manipulative and the harnessing. Harnessing varieties of magic are usually harmless as they do not change the natural order of things. However, manipulative spellcasting, in its extreme forms, such as when opening a parallel dimension, can disturb the natural fabric, and thus should only be used with care.

The first prerequisite for spellcasting is knowing at least one spell. Healers, Monks, Priests, and Wizards are roles which begin the game with knowledge of one or more spells; other classes must find at least one spellbook and read it first. Pressing [Z] without knowing any spells will produce a message to this effect. Otherwise, a menu will appear of the spells you know, accompanied by their school, level, and chance of failure. This chance of failure is affected by Intelligence (or Wisdom), Experience level, skill level, innate magical ability of the role, armour (especially metal but also shields and robes), and whether it is an emergency spell and/or your special spell. Unless you cancel, the game will first check if you have enough power (magical energy) for the spell selected. If you have enough power, then the game will roll for success or failure. If you succeed, your spell will take effect - see spellbook for an index. If you fail, you will receive the message "You failed to cast the spell correctly" Spellcasting will burn nutrition with the exception of detect food, and each spell successfully cast will produce skill points equal to its level.
