  • After collecting 50 fly coins then Gex would have to find the vault key for that level. A skull, a shield, a star, and a radiation symbol.
  • Many games provide secret levels that aren't necessary to finish the game. Sometimes they are based around gimmicks or themes that aren't in the "actual" game. Sometimes they are much more difficult than the main game's and are essentially a secret challenge, or they feel like they could fit right in the game and were seemingly left out of the main game simply because there was no way to fit them into the progression (and making them secret was better than leaving them out or dummying them). Will also be necessary for One Hundred Percent Completion. Examples of Secret Level include:
  • Start a new game but don't enter the room, instead click and hold the Left Analog-stick, then quickly press A, X, Y, B, Y, A, X, B. You will then enter the first level of the original Prince Of Persia game, redone in 3D.
  • Each secret level must be accessed via a special elevator found only behind secret pushwalls.
  • A secret level is any level beyond the "fake" last level, usually levels 145-149 in a set with 149 levels (including official sets). Fake and real last levels can be changed using ChipEnd, though.
  • A secret level is an optional level accessed from a generally concealed alternate exit. Since the secret level uses this second, less accessible exit, the game or episode it forms part of can be completed from start to finish without progressing through the level. A super secret level is a secret level accessed from a previous secret level, as seen in Doom II.
  • Secret Instructions. The first 3 spots' order doesn't matter, but the fourth must be done last. It is recommended that the shield and fireball be obtained first. Upon reaching the proper spot, one must activate it by jumping at the wall. You will hear the sound of a key as a confirmation. To find the secret room, one must hit all 4 spots without dying. Hitting Apple-Q during a level will take you back to the great hall. Since this does not count as dying, it makes this much easier to find. On jumping into the 4th spot, you will go through the wall into the secret room.

A super secret level is a secret level accessed from a previous secret level, as seen in Doom II. In Doom, secret exits could only be set up as switches. In Doom II and Ultimate Doom, secret exits could be triggered by walkover lines as well. The source port Boom added exits triggered by impact weapons, including secret exits, which are consequently available in any Boom-compatible port.
