The series was split into two seasons, one season followed the formation of a fictional war that allowed Thrawn to place Palpatine's genetically altered "Sons" on the Imperial Throne and thereby the reformation of the Empire, the second Season followed the Empire combating the Yuuzhan Vong War parallel to the New Republic's war with the Yuuzhan Vong. A third season also considered, although little on its production information had been recorded at this time.
