  • The Artefacts are what Lara is always after, if it's in the games or in the movies. The artefacts are usually powerful objects, denoting a forgotten ancient power. Some artefacts may need to be combined before its power can be revealed. Others are just keys for Lara continue her adventure.

  • Artefacts are rare or unique Items that are found throughout Avernum and the Surface. Finding one of these typically involves a Quest of major or minor proportions. For instance, Obtaining the Orb of Thralni in Avernum 3 requires the player to teleport to nearby where the item was taken from, and to fight off members of the Cult of the Sacred Item until reaching the objective. From there, the player will gain the ability to Fly. Others require the Adventurers to pay large amounts of money to a particular person in the game to obtain the whereabouts of the Artefact in question.
  • Combining artefacts works in the exact same way as combining collections in the game. The difference is that instead of finding and combining 5 different collection items make a collection, players are making and combining 5 different collections to make an artefact. In order to combine an artefact, players must first combine 1 each of 5 different collections that make up the artefact. The collections needed to create each artefact are listed on the List of Artefacts page.

The act of combining the artefact will use up one of each of those combined collections in the players inventory, in the same way that combining a collection will use up one of each of the 5 items for that collection in the players inventory. This means that the total number combined for those collections that appears in the collections tab will go down by 1. If you have only 1 of that collection to begin with, then that collection will appear as an uncombined collection again in the collections tab, and the green completed banner will disappear. In the picture to the right, the player currently has 26 'Flower Petals' (from combining the 'Holiday Traditions' collection 26 times); 3 Lover's valentines cards (from combining the 'Valentines Card' collection 3 times); 10 Fireworks (from combining the 'Long Awaited Date' collection 10 times); and 2 Pairs of T-shirts (from combining the 'Enamored Presents' collection 2 times). They do not have any Flower Hearts (from combining the 'Hearts' collection). Once the player finds the items for the Hearts collections and combines it to create a Flower Heart, they will be able to combine the Valentine's Amulet artefact. They will also need 20x Second Hands, 20x Minute Hands, 20x Hour Hands and 20x Clock Faces to use as combining elements to combine the artefact. Once they combine this new Valentine's Amulet, the number of combined 'Holiday Traditions' collections in the collections tab will reduce from 26 to 25, the number of 'Valentine's Cards' collections will reduce from 3 to 2 etc. And the 'Hearts' collection will go back to appearing to be uncombined as the only Flower Heart created will be used in making the Valentines Amulet. You may combine more than one of each artefact at a time. They will stay in the Talisman section of your inventory until they are used. In the example above, the player already has 4 Valentine's Amulet artefacts, so combining another will add a 5th to their inventory. As the player uses these Valentine's Amulets, the number of completed Valentine's Amulets in the artefacts will reduce from 4 to 3 and then from 3 to 2 etc. If the player was to use all 4 Valentines artefacts in their inventory, then the Valentine's Amulet artefact will look uncombined in the Artefacts tab of the collections section, and the green completed banner would disappear from the Valentine's Amulet's entry in the section. It would go back to looking like the Valentines Artefact was never combined, like the Amulet of Santa artefact above it in the picture.
