  • Hyperspace is an alternate state of existence first utilized by the Rakata of the Infinite Empire. Starships can enter hyperspace in order to attain velocities faster than the speed of light. This provides a means to travel between stars, and has become the predominant form of interstellar travel used in the galaxy.
  • Hyperspace is an alternate plane of space through which a ship must travel to reach faster-than-light speeds. To do so requires a hyperdrive and all the associated parts, such as a hyperspace core. In the Remastered version of Homeworld 1 and 2 the hyperspace jump is shortened giving a quicker exit than before.
  • Hyperspace refers to the method of using Astral Gates for "faster than light" travel throughout the Sol System.
  • Hyperspace is the fourth-dimensional space of meta-space.
  • Hyperspace (also known as subspace) is an alternate dimension used by several races for faster than light travel accessible by means of a hyperdrive.
  • The name hyperspace was given to a space with a non-Euclidean geometry coexisting with "normal" space. Traveling in hyperspace allowed for effective faster-than-light travel compared to normal space. Hyper space was organized into discrete bands, with each band corresponding to a lower point-to-point distance compared to normal space. This meant for a given velocity, higher hyper bands allow for higher effective velocity.
  • Although the specifics have been kept classified by the niex, the secret to performing hyperspace jumps was sometimes passed down through a galaxy's mantle keeping lineage, as trusts grew. Such is referred to as hyperdrive. Intergalactic "ferries" connected the Niex with their allied species, and were capable of being deactivated at any time that an alliance was dropped, in order to avoid unnecessary conflict.
  • Hyperspace is the state of existence used by star-ships to achieve faster than light (FTL) travel. It is a phenomenon not completely understood by scientists; it is alternately described as a parallel universe, an extra 'dimension' of space and time, and an alternate mode of physical existence.
  • Hyperspace is an idea accepted by many or all theoretical physicists who studied the subject. The concept of Hyperspace is that there are more dimensions out there than the 3 dimensions familiar to us together with time. Theoretical physicists favour 10 dimensions for reasons that ordinary readers are unlikely to understand. These extra dimensions exist in our universe and may explain phenomena like gravity and light.
  • Hyperspace is a temporal nexus caused by Third Energy anomalies. In earlier events such as the incident at the Ibis Island and Edward City, space from one time would be "exchanged" with space from another, however, this does not always occur. In Hyperspace, random space is taken from its present time, but no end point for the "exchange" is given, forcing it into the nexus, instead.
  • The parallel dimension used by ships to facilitate expeditious interstellar travel. Hyperspace is the space through which a spaceship may travel at faster-than-light speeds, using a hyperdrive. Ships in hyperspace can interact with normal space, and thus complicated calculations (usually performed by an astromech droid or a navigation computer) are necessary to avoid a disastrous impact.

  • Hyperspace is a concept of physics in Random Kingdom, denoting all spacetime that lies along additional directional axes beyond the 3d space of the physical universe accessible to human consciousness and baryonic matter. There are certain magical and technological ways of enabling movement along these additional axes and into hyperspace, allowing travel to different points within the same universe, or into other 3d structures found along these axes, distinct from our "layer", or physical universe.
  • Jump points are strictly one way. An outgoing jump point for a ship that is about to enter hyperspace is yellow in color, and incoming jump points for ships re-entering normal space are blue. If one jump point is opened inside of another, the staggering release of energy would almost instantly cause an enormous explosion. During the Earth-Minbari War, Earthforce briefly experimented with the offensive applications of this tactic though quickly dubbing it the "Bonehead Maneuver", as none of the Earthforce ships were able to clear the blast radius before being destroyed.
  • Hyperspace was a Σ-dimensional non-Euclidian Minkowski matrix coexisting and coterminal with realspace, with limited interaction on the level of substrings and strange quarkions. Starships equipped with hyperdrives entered hyperspace by releasing gamma radiation, rippling the local space-time continuum, while a null quantum field surrounding the hull helped stabilize the vessel to prevent standard zero-point vacuum fluctuations from hypercurving back into realspace for the duration of the journey.
  • Hyperspace was a dimension distinct from normal space, where one could travel faster than 180,000 miles per second and avoid the time distortion effect stated in Einstein's Theory of Relativity. According to the Fourth Doctor, it was an absurdity — it was only supposed to be a theory. (TV: The Stones of Blood) Hyperspace was a subset of the Time Vortex, (PROSE: The Crystal Bucephalus) and one account referred to the "vortex" of hyperspace; it may have been the core of the Time Vortex. (PROSE: State of Change)
  • To many people, hyperspace is the void between light speed and 0.97c (light speed). It is the closest velocity to reaching the speed of light judging based on the object's size and, of course, its mass. Very few species in the galaxy have harnessed this power; one of the most well known are the Vogons. To travel in this speed-void, one must have thrust capabilities of (π x 30,428,697)/(Mass in kg) Watts of power. In the case of transporting a 2cm fly at 0.97 x Light speed would require energy somewhere in the region of 1 billion years' energy output of the Sun. But due to the lack of intelligence of the species known as human, very little energy has been harnessed from the Sun and most of the species' energy is provided by digging up solids and liquids from the ground and burning it to see
  • Hyperspace was first accessed by a human vessel unintentionally during the initial phases of the Interplanetary War, before being exposed to the foreign physics of the alternate space-time and consequently being disaggregated into elementary particles. It was believed to be a deadly Bermuda Triangle-esque zone until 2201, when the α-β joint investigation team sent by the UN finally came to consensus about the origin of the "anomaly". It was subsequently declared a safe zone.
  • Hyperspace refered to a location in a zero-gravity environment. A hyperspace physics test was on the Starfleet Academy entrance exam. (TNG: "Coming of Age" ) In 2364, Geordi La Forge attempted to tell a joke to Data, involving a person staggering as he walks up to a girl. The punchline of that joke was "just try that in hyperspace!" (TNG: "Conspiracy" )
  • Entry into hyperspace is achieved when a vessel opens a stable hyperspace window. This allows a vessel to enter subspace and achieve faster-than-light velocities relative to real space whilst traveling at sublight speeds within its own layer of subspace. In this state, they can fly from one point to another in a relatively straight line. Hyperspace gives off high levels of radiation, but this is only a problem for the hulls of Wraith vessels, which are organic and unshielded.

They will challenge you to a battle when you are 10 steps away and if you win They will give you a set Number of Hyperspace cash depending on how strong their pokemon were . • Hyperspace is a common Science Fiction concept, allowing a ship to enter a different region or dimension of space where travel occurs faster than light. It is defined differently in many works of fiction. Space Cases poorly defines Hyperspace, but it has some rules: * Hyperspace jumps require fuel * The "jumps" are not indefinite * Hyperspace engines are unreliable, and nearly require a full-time engineer (such as Suzee ) * A jump must have a navagation path, or else is a "blind jump" where collisions and bad endpoints can cause issues. This is similar to the Telemorph's problem.

  • Hyperspace is the medium of Hyperjump travel between star systems.
  • Hyperspace is an alternate dimension used by several races for faster than light travel accessible by means of a hyperdrive.
The punchline of that joke was "just try that in hyperspace!" (TNG: "Conspiracy" ) In theoretical physics, hyperspace refers to a hypothetical higher-dimensional space in which our universe, and possibly others, exist. It has been popularized as a subspace-like dimension in various Isaac Asimov stories, Larry Niven's "Known Space" series, and in the Star Wars film series.
Jump points do however have other tactical uses in warfare. A notable Minbari tactic is to lure an enemy fleet or task force into a predetermined location and then open a jump point right in their midst. Any ship that makes contact with the outer edge of the vortex is either instantly destroyed or severely crippled and the remaining ships are caught by surprise and easy targets for the Minbari Cruiser that has just jumped into the middle of them. During the Earth-Minbari War, the Drala Fi used this tactic to devastate the task force lead by the EAS Lexington. For safety reasons, jump points are normally opened only in deep space, away from any potential navigational hazards though with sufficiently accurate targeting information it is possible to open a jump point within, and safely transit into, a planetary atmosphere. However, due to the massive release of energy involved, doing so in a highly combustible atmosphere will cause a suitably large explosion and shock wave. Since most of the younger races all based their hyperspace technology off of the ancient Jumpgates left behind by an unknown race, they all bear the same characteristics. However, Shadow vessels and other First Ones have been observed entering and exiting hyperspace without the normal vortex being present. Shadow Vessels appear to "phase" in and out, though the energy readings register on sensors as being consistent with the forming of a normal jump point. The Walkers of Sigma-957 open a very large point which can only be described as being visually similar to arc lightning and has been known to almost completely drain the power from any ship caught in its wake. Other First Ones appear to use some variation of phasing or emerging from a burst of light, except for the Vorlons, who have been consistently observed to use the same vortex technology as the younger races.

Ships in hyperspace can interact with normal space, and thus complicated calculations (usually performed by an astromech droid or a navigation computer) are necessary to avoid a disastrous impact. Moving too close to a source of high gravity can remove a ship from hyperspace. This can occur when faulty calculations move the ship too near a star or large planet. This mechanism is exploited by the Imperial Interdictor cruiser, whose Gravity well projectors can be used to pull ships out of hyperspace for an ambush, or to prevent ships from fleeing the battlefield. It is also exploited by pirates, who have been known to haul large asteroids into such a position as to bring a ship out of hyperspace in order to ambush and board it.

Hyperspace itself is the extension of space into more than the 3 dimensions accessible to human perception and time into more than the 2 dimensions accessible to human consciousness. Shortcuts between two locations in spacetime may be found by travelling along such an eldritch dimensional axis. A good analogy would be the inside of a sphere - travelling along the two-dimensional 'plane' of the sphere connects the opposite poles of the sphere. However, travelling along the central axis in the third dimension greatly decreases travelling time. Parallel universes may be accessible as well by travelling along such a hyperspatial axis, but hyperspace itself is not a parallel universe, but rather, a parallel dimension in the true, original meaning of the word. Depending on the dimension tuned in on, there is often a distinction of 'near' hyperspace, which shifts along dimensions close to our own - 4th, 5th, 6th, etc - as opposed to deep hyperspace, which denotes high-order dimensions, often numbered in the hundreds or even thousands. In addition to considerably decreasing traveling times, traveling in hyperspace also allows one to travel past barriers and obstructions, as most three-dimensional objects do not extend into additional dimensions. However, some larger objects affect hyperspace by gravitational displacement or are actually much larger in other dimensions than in the prime three-dimensional space. Hyperspace is not the only method of faster-than-light travel - in some settings, Warp drives are used to compress spacetime, while in others, wormholes serve as shortcuts between two locations in spacetime. However, in Random Kingdom, all of these methods are explained as intrinsically related to hyperspace. Some methods of transport shift objects into another Plane, where speed may not be limited by the speed of light, or which may be considerably smaller, making far-away points closer to each other when the dimensions are mapped to each other. When shifting to another dimension, an object travels long the hyperspatial dimension. Some beings have an innate grasp of hyperspace and can either perceive it, or alternatively, have the mental faculties to at least grasp the concept of a multi-dimensional space, even if it is not readily accessible to them. The Hyperspace itself is a weird place, where rules of physics do not apply - even less than in alien Planes, which usually have their own distinct sets of natural laws.
Although confirmed and previously speculated for nearly two centuries to exist, hyperspace's physics and structure were still nearly entirely alien to humanity. To discover the way the UNN vessels managed to access hyperspace and use it as means of transportation, the United Nations decreased its military budget, upping SECA's budget by nearly trillion UNC, to which another one hundred million UCR per month were added. After one more year of conducting experiments, scientists at the Salt Lake City megalaboratory were able to send five atoms of helium through to hyperspace. Although the quantity was extremely small when compared to a starship, progress fastened. Only one month later, five metric tons of iron were sent to hyperspace. At the dawn of 2203, humanity's capabilities regarding sending matter into hyperspace raised to about a hundred thousand metric tons, which was sufficient even for larger military vessels, such as the UNN Icarus. However, one problem was still not solved: protection. Hyperspace was heavily brutal to foreign matter, its physics easily vanquishing any matter that attempted transit through it. SECA space engineers were able to develop quantum fields strong enough to maintain the ship and its passengers aggregated and fully healthy. As such, the first hyperspace test was scheduled for late 2203, with a primitive hyperdrive. The test would later prove to be a success. However, speeds through hyperspace turned out to be smaller than anticipated when translated to regular space-time (only about fourteen times greater than lightspeed, exponentially lower than the anticipated two hundred), which was later discovered to be the cause of the imperfect quantum field around the ship performing travel. Probes were later sent through hyperspace to the nearest planetary systems, colonization following soon after. Currently, hyperspace is extremely frequented, considering the massive amount of inter-system transportation.
(PROSE: State of Change) Hyperspace allowed ships to travel great distances while in another type of space which allowed for an alternative to faster than light drives. The ships would disappear from normal space, enter hyperspace and return. (TV: Nightmare of Eden) Icarons could be used to allow a ship make the transition between normal space and hyperspace. (PROSE: Original Sin) Hyperspace permitted communication over great distances. Through use of an ionic vibrator, Prentice, her mind in shock from a fall, was able to hear the voice of Zex, even though he was five hundred light-years away. used the same device to send his thoughts into hyperspace and contact Zex. (PROSE: Listen - The Stars) In the 100th century, androids communicated through webwork transmissions via hyperspace. (PROSE: The Crystal Bucephalus) Both the Grold and the Semquess had ships which could travel in hyperspace. (PROSE: The Eye of the Giant) The Third Doctor materialised in front of a ship, forcing it to pull out of hyperspace. (TV: Frontier in Space) By the 25th century, humans had the ability to travel in hyperspace and such journeys had become commonplace and commercial. (PROSE: Judgement of the Judoon) A space-faring version of the Orient Express travelled through space along hyperspace ribbons. (TV: Mummy on the Orient Express) By 2815 a section of hyperspace was being used as a short-cut for various ships. The Cerberus ship caused a huge traffic jam when it attempted to escape the hyperspace tunnel as it was closing. The ship was eventually found by the authorities later but it was found deserted, leading to it being called the "Mystery of the Cerberus". By 3012, it, along with the prison ship the Montressor which had crashed into it, became a space station called the G-Lock, where the Festival of Death took place. (PROSE: Festival of Death) When travelling from 1138 Essex to Skaro, Colony Sarff travelled with their prisoners the Twelfth Doctor, and Clara Oswald in their spaceship via hyperspace. (TV: The Magician's Apprentice)

In this state, they can fly from one point to another in a relatively straight line. Hyperspace gives off high levels of radiation, but this is only a problem for the hulls of Wraith vessels, which are organic and unshielded. Ships in hyperspace are undetectable to all but the most sensitive sensors, such as the long range sensors of Atlantis and Asgard sensors. However, most ships can detect the formation of a hyperspace exit window moments before it becomes visible to the naked eye and a ship emerges. The Asgard core installed on the Odyssey also gives off a signal which can be tracked in hyperspace when it is active. (Stargate: SG-1) Entering and maintaining hyperspace velocities apparently requires an enormous amount of power; Asgard vessels can use neither their shields or weapons in hyperspace, and this seems to hold true for vessels of other races as well. This facet of hyperspace travel renders ships momentarily vulnerable to attack upon exiting hyperspace, assuming their aggressors know when and where the ship will exit. The subspace field which allows the vessel to enter hyperspace presumably keeps it from being torn apart, but vessels are still much more fragile in hyperspace than when combat ready, as demonstrated by Replicator-controlled vessels on several occasions. Ancient city-ships are an exception, as their shields can - and must - operate unaffected whilst in hyperspace. (Stargate: SG-1, Stargate: Atlantis) While at its core all hyperdrive technology follows the same basics, hyperdrive technology of each race has a unique subspace frequency. Subspace interference broadcast at these frequencies destabilizes the hyperspace window of the specific hyperdrive technology, causing any vessels to be torn apart upon entering hyperspace; other hyperdrives would remain unaffected due to the differences in frequency. An Ancient scientist named Janus created a device to take advantage of this weakness.(Stargate: Atlantis) Rodney McKay and Radek Zelenka attempted to theorize what would happen if a craft like a fighter left a hyperspace bubble while in flight, McKay expected that the craft would be destroyed while Zelenka proposed that it would be able to maneouvre inside the hyperspace bubble. John Sheppard chose not to test out either theory when presented with an in-flight chance to sabotage a Wraith Hive Ship.(Stargate: Atlantis)

Well the real world is complex and difficult to understand. By contrast Bronze Age and Iron Age mythology is easy to understand, after all early people wrote them. That can make religion appealing to simple minded people and children. The reality of science can inspire us with awe and wonder, we don't mythology about gods and monsters to inspire us.
  • Hyperspace is the state of existence used by star-ships to achieve faster than light (FTL) travel. It is a phenomenon not completely understood by scientists; it is alternately described as a parallel universe, an extra 'dimension' of space and time, and an alternate mode of physical existence.
Large gravitational influences, from stars, planets, or even large moons, interfered with the transition to hyperspace, not because they altered the local continuum (no, of course not, that would be silly) but only because they overcame the feeble hyperdrive's gamma-generated ripples. After all, if hyperdrives were as strong disturbances in space-time as planets and stars, why, we'd all be living in multidimensional limbo with time passing at random, and effects preceding causes half the time, and the speed of light changing with the wind (sometimes people would bump into you because they were running faster than the speed of light and couldn't see you until seconds after it happened). Do you follow? Now, transitions from hyperspace to realspace and vice-versa created wake rotation and Cronau radiation, which was a signature form of energy that mimicked electromagnetic radiation, but was in fact only the three-dimensional shadow of the Σ-dimensional surface tension being punctured at three simultaneous right angles by the ship's entry/exit point. Next week we'll be discussing the theory behind hyperspace navigation and the formation of permanent hyperspace routes. You'll need to read Chapters 7 through 12. There will be a quiz. And remember, I'll be in my office Tuesday and Thursday, but not Wednesday.
The Christa's hyperdrive engines are capable of hyperspace jumps, as well as on the Christa's Sister Ship.
