  • The 1993 Motorcraft Quality Parts 500 was a Winston Cup (now Nextel Cup) event held at Atlanta Motor Speedway on March 20, 1993. The race was delayed for six days due to a snowstorm, the longest a race has been continousally delayed. Snow still sat in the field, but Morgan Shepherd's ride was hot. He led only 46 of the 328 laps, but pulled away to a dominating 17.38-second victory on Ernie Irvan and sensational rookie Jeff Gordon. Dale Earnhardt finished 11th and held a 19-point championship lead on Geoffrey Bodine (6th).
