While Ashiak left to scout the planet, Garth was ordered to stay at the ship and watch the younglings. Ashiak found a Mandalorian War–era Republic outpost scheduled for demolition. To his surprise, Ashiak arrived at the same time as Darth Vader, who came to personally set off the explosive tibanna gas. A battle began and Garth sensed a disturbance in the Force, so he took the younglings to go find Ashiak. Ashiak was killed after their arrival at the outpost and Vader stabbed Kiie, who somehow survived. Garth dueled Vader while the younglings set off a timed bomb in the outpost. They all escaped, and Vader survived the explosion. Garth and the younglings then retreated to Ryloth.
