  • The Spirit of Water is the lifeblood of every living thing.
  • |} This named is located in the Waterfall room before the hatchery where the Devourer spawns. It has 4-5 water elemental spawns with it that are level 68. When attacked the named will call the entire room to it for assistance so clear all trash first. One of the named tomes (Volume VIII - 70^^^) also tends to spawn and assist the Spirit of Water during combat.

The kiho permitted a monk to merge with the spirits of water, stepping from one place in the mortal realm to another in an instant. Neither monks nor shugenja know where those who performed this kiho went to in the heartbeat before they re-appeared. For some reason, this kiho would only work if the person was out of view of any intelligent beings.

Strategy
  • Knight: Melee and Exori trying to keep your HP constantly full.
  • Mages: Run around using an energy wand/death rod shooting energy strike. Heal often. Without Helmet of the Deep, use Magic Shield and kill with SD as fast as you can, or you will be dead very quickly.
  • Treat it like a strong water elemental. For all vocations it is wise to use a Helmet of the Deep since this will block the drown damage.
  • Paladin: Use a Shield and Ethereal Spear, bring plenty UHs.

Made from the soul of a watet-type terrestrial, the blessings of Oliphem, and a unique alloy of black jade and orichalcum created in the Forge of Night, the Spirit of Water contains the ever-changing, learning soul of one of Gaia's exalted, seeking a body through which to nurture the world through adversity. Anyone who attunes to it has their peripheral pool increase by 15 motes as the Terrestrial souls Essence mixes with their own. They also gain +3 to any one skill they know -- changing which skill receive the bonus takes an hour of reflection and meditation and may not be done more then once per day. But, such a mix is never without it's influences. Those attuned to the artifact become believers in growth through adversity -- even when it's not called for. Every time the artifacts users faces a period over eight hours where they aren't being challenged in some way, they must spend a point of temporary willpower or go and seek out something to test their abilities against. Mortals who (somehow) use this artifact gain a watery anima banner as per a Terrestrial exalt, while other exalted who use it just gain a black-tinted banner. Balance Notes: The base effect of this artifact is two three-dot artifacts, making it a weak four-dot, but the three-dot side effect and the requirement of rare reagents bring it down to three-dots overall. The fact that it can't be easily taken from the user bumps it right back up to 4-dots. The requirement of rare, dangerous reagents remove the commitment cost, as based off the requirements for an Essence Storage Gem.
