  • A Virindi Renegade Faction, lead by "The Consul" Long after the New Directive had been beaten by the Isparians, the Renegade Virindi determined that Levistras failed in its construction of a New Singularity because it was unaware of the spatial and temporal potential of the energy contained within the ore used. Levistras sought to build a New Singularity from imperfect materials. The Consul and its peers calculated that a mass of Aetherium would retain and diffuse portal energy at a rate a thousand times more efficient than Pyreal. It was determined that a large array of Aetherium could serve as the center of critical mass for the New Singularity. After the Virindi discovered the use of Aetherium for establishing a New Singularity, they called upon their former allies, the Renegade Tumeroks and Lugians: the Gotrok Lugians, to direct the excavations and the Hea Tumerok to guard the mining. Preliminary investigations also revealed that the artifacts at the site containing Aetherium were remnants of a long-thought-vanished race of mechanical entities from an unknown world. The Virindi also believed that, if these entities could be reproduced or reconstructed, they would make superior servitors and guardians. These subverted Gear Knights were seen as a possibility to replace the Renegade Tumeroks and Lugians, since the Renegades were deemed as "too unreliable". To this goal, they constructed a beacon to lure a delegation of Gear Knight. The opposition they met by the first force of Gear Knights newly arriving in Dereth was too much and their first facility was destroyed. The Apostate Virindi crafted Simulacra and used them to assault newly arriving Gear Knights, in an attempt to deceive the Gear Knights into thinking Isparians were responsible for the actions of the Apostates. Their mingling with portal space resulted in quite a few notable temporal disturbances. The Arcanum, and noticably, Ned the Clever, studied the attempts of the Apostate Virindi to collect Aetherium, and its influence on portalspace. Several attempts were made by the Isparians and Asheron to sabotage the collection of Aetherium and to stabilize portalspace, which again was countered by the Apostate Virindi. The mingling with portalspace resulted in the destruction of many portals in Dereth, and sabotaged Asheron's attempts to free the Empyreans from portalspace. Geraine, Aerfalle and Rytheran cooperated with the Apostate Virindi to disturb the Ley Lines and change the timelines. Together with Ben Ten, Harlune investigated the activities of the Apostate Virindi and Aerfalle's involvement with the disturbances in the ley lines. Though the Apostate Nexi were falling, one Nexi at a time, to the Isparians, this did not interfere with the plans of Geraine, since the work of the Apostates fulfilled its purpose.
