Politically, she is part of the main moderate wing and often takes a critical stance against the influence of communists in the party. She is a personal friend of President of the Assembly of Delegates Lodewijk van Zijl who is a cousin of Emilie Saverys, Anouilh's civil partner. Though a well-known lesbian, Anouilh has never been a member of an LGBT advocacy group.
