| abstract | - Status: The Apollo (NCC-1834/4) was a Class F shuttlecraft assigned to the USS Cortez in the 2250s. In 2254, the Apollo was used by a landing party from the Cortez to investigate the planetoid Darien 224. Apollo crash landed, while the Cortez was boarded by the violent pre-Surakian Vulcans who inhabited the planetoid. Eight weeks later, the USS Enterprise was dispatched to investigate the Cortez disappearance, and a landing party soon discovered the damaged Apollo before coming under attack by one the Vulcan factions on the planet. A phaser rifle liberated from the Apollo weapons locker by Mia Colt was useful in holding back the aggressors long enough for an opposing Vulcan faction to intervene. Shortly after, the surface of Darien 224, including the Apollo, was destroyed as a result of the firing of the vorl-tak, a Vulcan psionic weapon.
