abstract
  • The Katowa Expedition was a large emigration from Earth in the late 21st or early 22nd century. Carol Abramowitz mentioned the Katowa Expedition, along with the Conestoga and Terra 10 missions, as examples of groups who resisted efforts toward human sociopolitical unity following first contact. (SCE eBook: Out of the Cocoon) This is apparently meant as a reference to the Native American tribes led by Katowa, as mentioned in TNG episode: "Journey's End", though that episode placed that event in the late 22nd century. The ENT novel: Beneath the Raptor's Wing established that Katowa's tribe left Earth for Mars in the early 22nd century, then left the Sol system during the Earth-Romulan War, which suggests Abramowitz may have conflated these two separate migrations.
