Each hive is ruled by a queen and each clan is ruled by a higher queen. The higher queen gives permission for clan members to be summoned. Wasps have a variety of useful purposes to their summoners. First, they have hard exoskeletons that taijutsu strikes can be cushioned by, and is able to ward off some ninjutsu. Large sized ones enable their summoners to travel by air on their backs. Smaller wasps can swarm around their summoners to create a flying insect sphere. The smaller wasps can also swarm and opponent to repeatedly sting them or consume the oxygen within the swarm. Also, wasps are able to use Wind Release and Lightning Release techniques. Lastly, they can create multiple poisons and cocktail poisons using their chakra, as well as antidotes to repel poisons and neutralize them. They are also great for recon, due to their lithe bodies and incredible stealth. Masters of summoning wasps, such as the First Kimza, Iro Kuguari, can summon the entire hive of a certain wasp clan to the battlefield via Summoning: Wasp Hive Gathering, for use of thousands of wasps at once. Large wasps summoned this way are said to blacken the skies while flying as a swarm.
