In the underground world of the People, most reconnaissance entails tracking down fairies who wander where they shouldn't, particularly away from the secret fairy civilization of Haven and onto the surface of the Earth. The main advantage held by the fairies in general and LEP in specific is a vastly-advanced technology. They use this technology to escape notice by humans, called Mud Men by the fairies, and considered a nascent threat to their civilization.
- LEPRecon is a branch of the Lower Elements Police (LEP) that is trained to monitor human and fairy activity aboveground. They are similar in role to LEPretrival, but are less specialized. Recon is the most prestigous branch of the LEP, and are adored by the law-abiding populace (and loathed by the lawbreakers!). The insignia of Recon is a light green circle with a black horizontal bar. Various numbers of these symbols are displayed on Recon uniforms to denote rank.
