Leading a small flotilla consisting of the Convarion and a pair of Iscandar-class frigates, he was assigned to patrol the borders of the Empire in what had once been the territory of the Vagaari Empire. While on patrol, Vren oversaw the capture of Tyrael Reznik by Royal Marines. He was sufficiently aware of the Force to recognize a Force-sensitive; after Reznik's Matukai training allowed him to overpower several marines before being captured, Vren arranged for Axelia Solios to be transferred to his command and take charge of the dangerous prisoner.
