Additionally, eco operates the largest national data exchange called De-CIX (Deutscher Commercial Internet Exchange). In 1996 the eco Forum established the Internet Content Task Force (ICTF). The task of ICTF is to advise members in the area of illegal and harmful material and use of the Internet and to develop counterstrategies to the downside issues of the global network. eco is also the major self-regulatory body tackling spam in Germany.
