  • Starbase 185 was a Federation starbase administered by Starfleet. This starbase was the closest to the J-25 system when the USS Enterprise-D was transported there by Q in 2365. It was calculated that the 7,000 light year journey back would take approximately two years and seven months at maximum warp. (TNG: "Q Who" ) This starbase was only mentioned in dialogue. According to Star Trek: Star Charts ("United Federation of Planets II") and Stellar Cartography: The Starfleet Reference Library ("Federation Historical Highlights, 2161-2385"), Starbase 185 was located in the Beta Quadrant.
  • Starbase 185, also known as Typhon Station, was as Federation starbase in the 24th and 25th centuries. On the coreward edge of Federation space in the Beta Quadrant, the station was located in orbit of the planet Ladon in the Typhon Expanse. It was one of the main command and control facilities for vessels operating in the Expanse. (Typhon Station) As of 2365, Starbase 185 was the closest starbase to the J-25 system, and lay along what came to be known as the "Borg vector." (TNG: "Q Who?", Typhon Station, Star Trek: Pendragon)
  • The USS Enterprise was transported to System J-25 in 2365. At this point, Starbase 185 was the closest starbase to the Enterprise's position (a maximum warp trip of "two years, seven months, three days, eighteen hours"). (TNG episode: "Q Who") In the late 2370s and early 2380s, the starbase was under the command of Admiral Alita de la Fuego. (TTN novel: Taking Wing) In late 2379, the USS Titan was due to stop off at the base after departing from the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards. Unfortunately, the medical relief mission to Romulus delayed the starship arrival.

Unfortunately, the medical relief mission to Romulus delayed the starship arrival. Doctor Xin Ra-Havreii was hoping to be able to secure a fresh supply of real levithi nuts on the base, but the delay meant that he had to acquire another supply. (TTN novel: Taking Wing) Captain Jean-Luc Picard contacted the starbase in 2380 to inform Starfleet Command of Q's appearance. (TNG novel: Q & A) In 2381, the starbase was under the command of Captain Jax Dreshing when the former Borg drone Axum arrived at the station seeking medical attention. (VOY novel: Protectors) In 2382, Admiral de la Fuego conducted holoconferences from her office at Starbase 185 with Captain Riker and Fleet Admiral Akaar with the assistance of her aide, a Lieutenant named Jenny. (TTN novel: Fallen Gods)

The footage was classified top secret, only being shown to the commanding officers of the ships sent to recapture the Prometheus, including Jonozia Lex. (Star Trek: The Adventures of Argus: "Messages From Home") Starbase 185 was destroyed in 2404. At the time, it was under the command of Admiral Stephania Rose. The Starbase was overrun by Borg as part of an incursion designed to start a civil war in the Federation. The USS Odyssey was instrumental in the destruction of the station, in an effort to stop the Borg from carrying out their plans. (Typhon Station)
