- The Omega sector was a remote area of Federation space. In 2354, a remote outpost in the Omega sector became the last recorded location of the Hansen family, who refused to file a flight plan. The Hansens, who had dedicated their careers to studying the Borg, set a course for the Delta Quadrant, and were not heard from again. In 2374, Kathryn Janeway managed to locate this piece of information in the records of Deep Space 4, while researching the background of the Hansens' young daughter, Annika, who had been assimilated by the Borg and transformed into the USS Voyager's newest crewmember, Seven of Nine. (VOY: "The Gift")
- Omega Sector is an allied 4 player map, a four-player version of Arakan Citadel. It was removed from the ladder pool as of season 3. The start locations are very similar on both maps, and side expansion areas are a bit more easily accessible by the opposing players. This map has three possible paths to attack, and although the center is the fastest route, the other two routes will be used very frequently because there are no watch towers overlooking them. As with Arakan Citadel, a player's ally is slightly far away from a player's base, so the player must consider this when placing their first production structures.
- The Omega sector was a region of space beyond the Outer Rim in the Wild Space region of the galaxy. The sector had no known planets, since it is filled with various nebulae, asteroid fields and other spacial hazards that make exploring this area very risky. The only location of importance (And perhaps the only known location in the Sector) was the Custom Golan III NovaGun Omega Base G3, situated within the outer regions of the Omega System. Another area of importance was the Gamma Shipyard, which was hidden in a massive planetoid in a nearby asteroid field.
