(VOY novel: Children of the Storm) Planck's first mission was to investigate a non-corporeal species, called "Children of the Storm", together with USS Demeter. Four days into the mission T'Mar intended to boost his crew's morale, which was affected by the malfunctioning replicators, by requesting organic foodstuff from USS Demeter. The transfer aroused the interest of the Children of the Storm. Captain Farkas' attempt to parlay with them failed and the Children surrounded Planck and destroyed the ship, killing everyone aboard.
