  • In addition to its starship repair facilities, Starbase 11 also housed a hospital section with an intensive care area dedicated to the treatment of seriously wounded individuals, including Fleet Captain Christopher Pike. (TOS episode: "The Menagerie")
  • Starbase 11 was a Federation starbase in 2267. In 2267, it was the location of Captain James T. Kirk’s court martial for the death of Lieutenant Commander Benjamin Finney. In the same year Spock diverted the USS Enterprise to Starbase 11 in an attempt to save Fleet Captain Christopher Pike.
  • Starbase 11 was a Federation facility, in use from the 22nd to at least the 24th centuries. Located in the Saken sector, it was the closest base to Planet Q, and had the facilities to repair numerous starships. Starbase 11 was constructed by Terrans ca. 2150, shortly before the Earth-Romulan War; it was "one of the few Earth facilities to be constructed planetside." (Star Trek: New Worlds, New Civilizations). USS Intrepid was in drydock for repairs at Starbase 11 in 2267, as was the USS Enterprise. (TOS: "Court Martial")
  • In 2256, Michael Burnham saw the starbase during a demonstration of the spore drive in the USS Discovery's engineering test bay alpha. (DIS: "Context Is for Kings") In 2267, the USS Enterprise diverted to Starbase 11, then under the command of Commodore Stone, in order to undergo repairs due to damage sustained during an encounter with an extremely powerful ion storm. While the Enterprise was there, Starbase 11 served as the site of a court martial against the vessel's commanding officer, James T. Kirk, the first such proceeding against a starship captain, for Kirk's apparent role in the death of Lieutenant Commander Benjamin Finney. It was later discovered, however, that Finney was not, in fact, dead, but had rather faked his own death in an effort to frame Kirk. (TOS: "Court Martial" )

While the Enterprise was there, Starbase 11 served as the site of a court martial against the vessel's commanding officer, James T. It was later discovered, however, that Finney was not, in fact, dead, but had rather faked his own death in an effort to frame Kirk. (TOS: "Court Martial" ) Later that year, the Enterprise returned to Starbase 11, which at this point was under the command of Commodore Mendez. Although it had initially appeared as if Captain Kirk had received orders to divert to the starbase, subsequent investigation concluded that the facility had sent no such message, and that the orders were, in fact, forged by the Enterprise's first officer, Lieutenant Commander Spock, as part of a plot to gain access to Fleet Captain Christopher Pike, Spock's former commanding officer, and illegally transport him to the forbidden planet of Talos IV. (TOS: "The Menagerie, Part I" , "The Menagerie, Part II" ) In 2328, this was the destination for passengers traveling from Sherman's Planet Spaceport via commercial transport. Sarah Paul, Robert Blackman, and Molly Tranya traveled to Starbase 11 on the SS Kogin. (TNG-R: "Inheritance" , okudagram) In 2369, Geordi La Forge, when investigating the murder of Lieutenant Keith Rocha, requested a display of the lieutenant's personal records from the Relay Station 47 computer for stardates 46455 to 46460. One of these records mentioned this starbase. In his log entry, Rocha wrote, "Spent most of the day recalibrating the new antenna array for Starbase 11. Ran several TB throughput tests, but we still can't seem to crack the median performance level. We'll try again on Friday." (TNG: "Aquiel" , okudagram) For the remastered episode "Aquiel", the log entry stardate was changed from 46455 to 45455. The log entry, with the starbase's name, was new to the episode, having replaced the pre-remastered entry.

(TOS: "Court Martial") The portmaster at the time was Commodore Stone; Commodore José I. Mendez would be seen as its commanding officer later. (TOS: "The Menagerie") Later that year, on stardate 3012.4, after suffering severe delta radiation poisoning, Fleet Captain Christopher Pike was sent to Starbase 11 where he received the best medical treatment at the base's Sector General Hospital. Pike received a visit from Ambassador Spock from the year 2373 who offered some encouraging words and promised that life was worth living. (Star Trek: New Voyages: "In Harm's Way") On stardate 9209.13, Edward Tunis was promoted to the rank of captain and placed as commanding officer of the newly commissioned USS Lexington (NCC-1703-B). His command crew almost completely placed except for a Chief Medical Officer and Chief Science Officer, which would be assigned upon arrival at Starbase 11 in a few weeks. (Tales of the Seventh Fleet) The USS Saratoga docked at Starbase 11 on stardate 9618.9 and shortly thereafter Captain Edward Stanfield was informed of his transfer to the command of the USS Valkyrie. The Valkyrie later returned to the base for resupply and repairs following a skirmish with Romulan forces. At this time the Starbase was commanded by Vice Admiral David Markoweitz. (Star Trek: Valkyrie: "New Command", "The Road to Tomed") In 2351, the Cardassians raided the Federation settlement on Planet Q, killing thousands of colonists, including all but the two youngest members of the Eyler family. The starships USS Intrepid and USS Cairo were dispatched from Starbase 11, but before they reached the colony, three Klingon vessels arrived to defend the planet. The combined power of the Starfleet and Klingon ships drove the Cardassians away. (Star Trek: Pendragon) In the year 2368, Captain Robert Wright was in charge of Starbase 11. (Star Trek: Minnesota: "The Price of Freedom") In an alternate timeline, the Gorn made a sneak attack on Starbase 11 in September 2375 during the Federation-Gorn Conflict. (Star Trek: Pendragon) Shortly after the end of the Dominion War in 2375, the starbase commemorated 225 years of continuous service to first the Earth Starfleet and then the Federation Starfleet. Admiral Michael Carlin had been in command of Starbase 11 for 28 years. Admiral Leonard McCoy was at the commemoration and recalled a Lieutenant Harvey Hildebrandt, a weapons officer injured during a Klingon attack on the base in 2298.
