  • A Generation 4.5 multi-role type aircraft primarily used as air superiority fighters, Handles extremely well and is noted for being the first aircraft that is aerodynamically unstable, as a result, it requires computers to keep itself in the air, but the benifit is increased handling. It is featured in HAWX as the Typhoon F.2 and appears in HAWX 2 as the Typhoon FGR.4 variant.
  • Legend tells the story of a brave cleaning utensil man known as Spongebob who explored the ruins of your crappy computer from the 80's Atlantis, only to find an alien device known only at the time as "01001001 01101110 01100110 01101001 01100100 01100101 01101100 00100000 01101101 01101111 01100010 01101001 01101100 01100101 00100000 01111001 00110010 01101011 00100000 01000011 01010010 01010101 01010011 01000001 01000100 01000101 01010010 00100000 01000101 01000100 01001001 01010100 01001001 01001111 01001110". After taking a generous bribe from his old pal China to provide the only remaining blu-prints and intergalactic sorcery code, he took off as the first honorary sponge to fly such a fighter plane on the 27th of March, 1994.
[bewerk] Geschiedenis
  • The Eurofighter Typhoon is a twin-engine, canard-delta wing, multirole fighter. The Typhoon was designed by a consortium of three companies, EADS, Alenia Aeronautica and BAE Systems, working through a holding company, Eurofighter GmbH, which was formed in 1986.
  • Presenting itself as an alternative to 5th generation fighters, the Eurofighter typhoon is arguably the second most capable air superiority fighter in service second only to the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor. It was based on the British Aerospace EAP. At first it was called European Fighter Aircraft (EFA), later it was renamed to Eurofighter 2000 and finally to Eurofighter Typhoon. In Austria and Germany it is often called Eurofighter and not Typhoon or Eurofighter Typhoon. Primarily, the Typhoon was designed to be an Air Superiority Fighter to counter newer, more advanced fighters, like the MiG-29 or the Su-27 of the Warsaw Pact, but with the end of the Cold War it modified into a multirole fighter.

The Typhoon was designed by a consortium of three companies, EADS, Alenia Aeronautica and BAE Systems, working through a holding company, Eurofighter GmbH, which was formed in 1986. The project is managed by the NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency, which acts as the prime customer. Eurofighter Typhoon is being produced serially by the EADS, Alenia Aeronautica, and BAE Systems consortium. The aircraft is being procured under separate contracts, named tranches, each for aircraft with generally improved capabilities. The Typhoon has entered service with the Austrian Air Force, the Italian Air Force, the German Air Force, the British Royal Air Force, the Spanish Air Force, and the Royal Saudi Air Force.

It was based on the British Aerospace EAP. At first it was called European Fighter Aircraft (EFA), later it was renamed to Eurofighter 2000 and finally to Eurofighter Typhoon. Primarily, the Typhoon was designed to be an Air Superiority Fighter to counter newer, more advanced fighters, like the MiG-29 or the Su-27 of the Warsaw Pact, but with the end of the Cold War it modified into a multirole fighter. The aircraft was designed to offer superb performance in all key areas. Its unique delta canard design bestows next generation maneuverability for both the supersonic and subsonic regimes. To improve performance in WVR, the aircraft integrates the ASRAAM missile with the HMD as well as eyeball tracking to allow offbore missile shots. The aircraft relies on a large wing a comparatively low weight to further its maneuverability and high altitude performance. The powerful engines allow the aircraft to achieve a thrust to weight ratio of approximately 1.15 when fully loaded, enabling excellent acceleration, and the ability to supercruise at approximately Mach 1.5. The Typhoon, with its highly capable CAPTOR radar, combined with reduced RCS features, gains a sizable detection range advantage over essentially all non stealth aircraft. The typhoon also features the PIRATE passive sensing system, which combines features of an IRST and a forward looking infra red system, and allows it to detect aircraft from dozens of miles away without risking the possibility of compromising itself with its radar emissions. The Eurofighter typhoon can be considered the paragon of 4th generation jet fighter design philosophy. A very potent aircraft, it has nevertheless received much criticism, for its high cost, and the dubious logic of introducing a legacy generation fighter as a mainstay aircraft.
