The campus is located several miles away from its original home at Gonzaga University in a building dating back to 1951 (although extensively remodeled in the late 1990s). The school lies in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Spokane and is administered separately from the University. G-Prep took 3rd Place in the State 4A classification in Football in 2004 and 2006, won the GSL Championship in Chess, and took fourth place at Destination Imagination Global Finals. Extracurricular programs include, the All Star Club, Knights of the Leash, Key Club, Ancilla, athletics, Debate, and Destination Imagination. Athletics include Baseball, Boys basketball, girls basketball, cross country, football, golf, boys soccer, girls soccer, softball, boys tennis, girls tennis, track, volleyball, and wrestling. Famous alumni include Bing Crosby (when it was still Gonzaga High School), Speaker of the House Tom Foley, NFL hall-of-famer Ray Flaherty, NFL kicker Joe Danelo, New Orleans Saints special teams captain Steve Gleason, NBA all-time assists and steals leader John Stockton, and Saturday Night Live alum Julia Sweeney. Gonzaga Preparatory School was also the first Jesuit school in the country to have a lay president, John Traynor.
