Although he did many good things in the Clone Wars, including saving the lives of Evan Piell and the Zillo Beast, Tom allowed Osi Sobek to kill Captain Tarkin after forseeing that Tarkin would order the distruction of Alderaan, Tom's home planet. The Senate saw this as an act of treachery and sentenced him to death. Ahsoka and Obi-Wan broke Tom out of prison the night before his execution and Tom went into exile, although he frequently had to fight off Bounty Hunters that the enraged Darth Sidious sent after him.
