  • Tether recovery

  • A Tether Recovery is when you are able to recover from far. Link's, Samus's and Sheik's Grab can be used as tether recoveries. Ivysaur's and Zero Suit Samus's Up Specials are tether recoveries. Not every character has a tether recovery. Very few do have tether recoveries. Tether Recoveries are the only moves that allow you to recover from far. When a character does a tether recovery he/she will pull out a long, rope-like item and the "rope" will stick to the edge where you can get back on stage.
  • In Super Smash Bros. (Wii U and 3DS), tether recovery can now be done from an even longer range than before. In addition, multiple characters can latch on, but the one that actually grabs hold is determined by the same rules as the standard ledge grab.
  • It is used by pressing the grab button when we are about to go below the surface of the stage. The projectile used in tether recovery can also be used to attack opponents when we are not falling from the stage. It will always hit forward even if we are moving backward. However, there are some edges where tether recovery cannot grab, such as the giant wheel in Yoshi's Island, broken roads in Central Highway, etc..
