  • Styling droid
rdfs:comment
  • Depending on the droid model and on the species to be styled it had tools to cut, lengthen, wash, dye and dress hair of different kinds, to trim or remove facial hair, to clean the facial and sometimes also body skin before and after cosmetic applications or to apply fragrances on the users body. Some of these droids could even lay on skintight clothing with different possible textures and colors to the clients body by spraying on liquid cloth, which would then dry off to leave elastic, disposable, but still durable apparel. Others had measurements for changing the eye color of the client by applying contact lenses or dying the iris with temporary tint.

The main feature in most units of course was to fashion any kind of makeup onto the users face or even the whole body, be it for the purpose of looking fashionable or even to change the clients physical appearance completely, for instance to become unrecognizable for an undercover mission or just for the fun of transformation. The programming ranged from simple to extremely elaborate styles of makeup art also depending on the droids equipment. Some models had a configuration, which consisted of prepared cosmetics such as concealer, base, powder, blush, highlighter, eyeshadow, mascara, eyeliner, eyebrow color, false lashes, lipstick, lip gloss, which were applied one after another as also common with traditional techniques. Other droids, such as the models of the ST-series, individually mixed different colors and textures stored in small tanks and directly applied the makeup by spraying the mixture onto the clients skin, whereby multiple features of an ordinary makeup application here were often done in one single step. Most styling droids gave the client the possibility to develop the look together or choose from a predefined one from its programming or from available styling databases. The unit often scanned the user's features in preparation for the planning of the look and could propose a fitting style on that basis. Also the scanning had the purpose to fit the prepared styling to the client during application. Some models possessed holoprojectors to be able to preview the planned look or sometimes also directly project it onto the users body, so he or she could get an impression of the results in advance by looking into a mirror.
