  • Corulag Officer Academy

  • The Corulag Officer Academy was an installation on Corulag that trained young recruits to be officers in the Republic Navy (that is, local space militias that were used by member systems of the Republic prior to the Clone Wars). The academy was not affiliated with the Republic government or Corulag's planetary government; it was a proprietary private training school. The daily regimen for a student would consist of several rigorous classes in mathematics, history, and science, and then several hours set aside to training in the "Battle Room", an advanced simulator in which two or more "armies" would stage mock battles.

The armies in the Officer Academy consisted of a hierarchy of privates, platoon leaders, and commanders. Platoons contained five privates, including the leader, and armies had a total of twenty privates. The staff at the academy decided who was to become a commander. Commanders appointed platoon leaders, and were in charge of training the privates. Platoon leaders would issue commands to individuals in the platoon, whereas commanders would issue commands to platoons. Commanders were generally in charge of an army for three months. Privates usually remained privates for around four years. The battles in the Battle Room were varied and unpredictable, with many different types of battles simulated. These included, but were not limited to any combination of: 1. * Starfighter dogfights 2. * Capital ship engagements 3. * Convoy escorts 4. * Trench warfare 5. * Planetary invasions 6. * Zero-gravity infantry battles (an obsolete form of battles onboard space stations in ancient historical wars) 7. * Capture the flag infantry battles Commanders had to be flexible to train their privates for any of these battles.
