James Henry was baby-sat by his half-brother, Marshall Ferguson, who treated his mother very coldly, as he blamed her for the breakup of the family. Marshall didn't have any animosity towards the child as James Henry was probably as nice as a baby was likely to be, but he would have liked to tell his mother to find a professional care-giver if he could afford it. However, when Louise lost her job when the ramen noddle importer closed shop in the U.S., she no longer needed Marshall to babysit James Henry as much. She did have Marshall babysit whenever she had to go to the California Employment Development Department to show proof of her job search and pick up her unemployment check and when she went out to physically look for Help Wanted notices in storefronts.
