  • Damian Westfall Damian Westfall (1977-) is a contemporary American writer, painter, theatrical director, actor and html/css designer. His first two novels have been termed "Dialogue Novels" being dialogue and monologue driven, in the tradition of Marguerite Duras and the satires of Lucan. Both novels, "Molly Divorce"(2006) and "Bennett's Cow-Eyed Girl"(2007) were based on classical Greek Mythology of Medea and Prometheus, respectively. His third book, "The Rise and Fall of Humphrey Chimpden Earwicker" is a departure from the Greek to the Irish, as a meditation on James Joyce's seemingly impossible novel "Finnegans Wake". Westfall took characters and scenes from Joyce's book, translated them from the "Dream Language" they were originally written in, and added other material inspired by Joyce's central themes. As a painter and visual artist in general, Westfall has seemed to remain fixated on the faces of middle aged men and grotesque women for subjects. He is an award winning painter and also draws with pen and ink. All of his awards and showings were in Washington State, which was his residence from 1981 to 1992. As a theatrical director, Westfall produced and directed eight plays in as many years from 1996 to 2004 in both California and Washington State. As an actor he has acted in over thirty-five plays, short films, commercials, television shows and an opera, for professional, semi-professional, educational and amatuer venues. He began his acting career as a child in 1984 and has continued to act to the present. It has been rumored that Damian Westfall is now working in HTML and CSS, for two projects. Hubristically challenging the tradition of hypertext fiction, Westfall is now, it has been said, workiking on a new interactive hypermedia novel, that thus far has only been referred to as "Bones". Simultaneously he has opened a web design business named "Pages From Earth", which is located in Walnut Creek, Ca. where he resides. He shares a home with friend Nelson Rogers, who is the drummer for the Bay Area Rock band, People Eaters.
