abstract
  • The Romanian Dragon Sanctuary is the largest preservation area set aside for the protection and study of dragons. Located in Romania, it was established by Harvey Ridgebit sometime before his death in 1973. During the 1990s, Charles Weasley, after graduating from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, travelled to Romania to work and further study dragons at this sanctuary, which is the largest of its kind in the world. Sometime in between April and June 1992, Charlie took the Norwegian Ridgeback Norbert (later renamed Norberta) to the sanctuary as a favour to Ron and Rubeus Hagrid, who was keeping the dragon illegally in his hut in the grounds of Hogwarts. In 1994, the Sanctuary supplied four dragons for use in the First Task of the Triwizard Tournament.
