Conservatives dislike this concept because they believe in tradition and personal responsibility (hence the term "Regressivism"), however the fact that people have used these aforementioned tools to build the modern world is direct evidence that progress works once everyone start to band together using their reason and skills. For there not divinely ordained but rather self-assembled into a social species as a result of evolutionary processes.
