  • Saw the band at a gig in June 2012 and spoke with them about the past and future of k.o.t.g. They are currently in the studio working on the next album but had taken the time out to do a couple of live shows. We spoke about the past fourteen years that had seen the band release three albums and tour world wide as a support act.The guys told me there is a new interest in k.o.t.g. and hope to break out again as headliners. The band still have the original line up of Kev Thompson- guitar vocals, Karl Thompson-drums vocals and Tom Lockhart- bass vocals. I heard some of the new songs, they are great, rocky moody and very memorable. I have included a recent review from their website- www.theThekeepersofthegate.com

I have included a recent review from their website- www.theThekeepersofthegate.com It is rare for a bunch of guys to stay together for any period of time whether they ‘make it’ as a band or not. The members of Keepers Of The Gate have been playing together for over 14 years. That alone is a testament to their staying power. KOTG are a dark alternative rock band from the UK. They have toured the world as a supporting act and now are trying to break out again on their own. They are currently in the studio putting together a new album which we were able to get a few demo tracks of prior to the release. The first single ‘We Are The Keepers Of The Gate’ has a nice dark vibe with spooky vocals run through a deep effects filter. The melody gets even darker when you hear the haunting background wails to chill your spine. There is something there that makes you want to hear more. The next track ‘Sold Your Soul’ is a much poppier number that could have a chance at radio play. Nice pop-rock guitars carry the tune and the drumbeat adds to the structure without overpowering the mix. ‘Sing This Hymn’ Again leans back towards the dark atmospheric sound. After 14 years it may be time for a dark alt rock band to find an audience that yearns for their material. A band that loves to play music can survive with a small but rabid following. I hope they press on .
