  • Alan is writing a screenplay at the coffee shop when he sees Mia. They catch up, and Alan tells Charlie after going back home. Charlie becomes nervous because he still has feelings for Mia but is with Chelsea. The next day, Herb and a pregnant Judith go to Charlie's house to pick Jake. Judith breaks her water and Herb slips on it, breaking his ankle. Everyone goes to the hospital. Alan is surprised to see Melissa working there, and she tells him she got a new job after she saw him in bed with her mother. Judith is taken to the emergency room to have her baby, and Herb is taken care of. The whole time there, Charlie talks to various people about his dilemma with Mia and Chelsea, including a man who lost his thumb. Herb is wheeled over to Charlie who is intoxicated on painkillers. Herb then remembers Judith is having the baby, and limps down the hallway with a broken ankle. Alan and Melissa reconnect and make out in the janitor closet. Charlie finds Judith's room while looking for Herb and keeps her company. Herb finally finds Judith's room and falls down, breaking his nose. Judith gives birth to a healthy baby girl, and Charlie holds the baby, feeling good in the end. At the end of the episode, Charlie, Chelsea, and Alan at the coffee shop with Charlie telling Chelsea about his time at the hospital, saying he wouldn't mind having a child. After Chelsea leaves, Mia walks up to Charlie, resulting in a cliff-hanger ending.
