rdfs:comment
  • The Council of Mages is the ruling body over both the principality of Crangnia as well as over the use of arcane magic all throughout the Empire. Ruled over by a group of achmages known as the Zenethal, the organization can be divided into the various schools of magic that make up the arcane arts. People from all over Tellic come to study at the Collage of Mages, the research and education division that make up the majority of the guild. They do not hold sway over the various non-Cradel and non-human practices of magic.
  • The Council of Mages was a primarily advisory group of arcane spellcasters who served the Forest Kingdom and its king directly.
  • The Council of Mages is the ruling body of the Magicracy of Alent in the Third Age. Its membership consists of mages specializing in different schools of magic. Although the council has great authority over Alent and its people, its members ultimately answer to Archmage Jemuel who is the de facto leader of the city-state.
  • The Council of Mages was one of three major governing councils in the realm of Tortall, besides the Council of Lords and the Council of Commons. The Council of Mages held jurisdiction over the mages of the realm and decided laws in all matters of magic. The head of this council is known as the Lord High Chancellor of Mages.
  • They are headquartered in the second floor of the Arcane University's Arch-Mage's Lobby. During the conflict between the Mages Guild and Mannimarco many members of the guild felt Necromancy should be permitted in order to stop Mannimarco. Others felt that the guild was in danger of being overpowered and their relics would be used for evil and therefore should be hidden elsewhere. This lead to members of the Council breaking off from the guild. Irlave Jarol and Caranya both took relics and left, each with their own goals.

In the 1st half of the 3rd century, the Lord High Chancellor was Lazamon of Buckglen, a mage who allied himself with Prince Baird and the rest of the rebel conspiracy in 249. After his capture, he was killed while in custody by other members of the conspiracy so he wouldn't talk about it to the Tortallan authorities. Rebakah Cooper heard his side of the story anyway because of her peculiar type of magic.

This lead to members of the Council breaking off from the guild. Irlave Jarol and Caranya both took relics and left, each with their own goals. Irlave took the Bloodworm Helm to Fort Teleman to study it in hopes of finding a way to fight Mannimarco. However, Necromancers found out about this and laid siege to the fort. The Hero of Kvatch made it to the fort and found members of the Mage's Guild had been killed and the place was overrun with Daedra and necromancers. The helm was found on the corpse of Irlave. Caranya had different plans on what to do with the artifact in her possession. She took the Necromancer's Amulet to Fort Ontus not to study or protect it, but to hand it over to Mannimarco. The Hero arrived to the fort in the hopes of bring the Amulet back. When Caranya saw that this was his goal she revealed her own plans and attacked him. the Hero took the amulet and fought his way out of the fort.
