In 1955 when serving with the Mediterranean fleet, Olna was used in the making of the film Battle of the River Plate to depict the Graf Spee's supply ship Altmark. There are interesting scenes of replenishment at sea with HMS Glasgow which was used to represent the German pocket battleship Admiral Graf Spee.
