- The Plank is a weapon in Silent Hill: Downpour. It is not very durable and has low range/strength, but is very common in all areas of the game. It is one of the three weapons the player must equip, along with the fire axe and the knife.
- A cooking method handed down by American Indians whereby meat or fish is cooked-usually by baking or broiling — on a wooden board. Planking imparts a soupcon of the wood's flavor to the food. Food referred to as planked has been cooked in this manner.
- Planks are items that are needed in both the Dragon Slayer and Observatory Quest to make various repairs. They are also needed to walk through trapped passages in the Underground Pass. Planks cannot be made in RuneScape Classic.
- However, Jonny claims Plank did speak and spelled it right, causing Jonny to proclaim Nazz, who hosted the event, a wood hater and seek revenge, but forgave her by the end. Jonny became Captain Melonhead in the episode "Robbin' Ed". Plank became Splinter the Wonderwood, Jonny's sidekick, in the same episode. Plank seems to be the cause of most of his troublesome predicaments. Jonny even created parents and friends for Plank.
- A Plank is a common construction item and is used in several quests. It is made of normal wood. Although Construction is Members-only skill, the plank is available to Free-to-play as it is used in the Dragon Slayer Quest.
- Four different types of logs can be taken to the sawmill operator to be changed to planks for a price (Members Only). Planks are then used to make construction furniture.
- Plank is a command that will force a player to leave a game scene (walk the plank). When a player is forced to walk the plank they will be ejected from the ship or building and placed on either the docks of their home island (if planked from a ship) or the docks of the island they are presently located (if planked from a building). Only players that hold the rank of officer or above can plank players, and only on their own crew's ships; owners and managers of buildings can plank players from the buildings they own or manage. If a ship is locked, only the owner of that ship can issue the plank command.
- Members can take four different types of logs to the sawmill near Varrock, in Prifddinas or the plank maker in Taverley to be changed to different types of planks for a price. The basic plank costs 100 coins to make. Planks can then be used to make Construction furniture. Using a plank in Construction grants varying quantities of Construction experience and usually also involves nails.
- Plank is the imaginary friend of Jonny 2x4. He is a plank of wood with eyes and a mouth painted on. Although Plank is claimed to be a living being, he is never heard or seen moving on screen, but Jonny seems to be able to understand what he is saying; however, this is likely just Jonny's imagination.
- A loose plank was often extended from a ship on the high seas, as a form of punishment for prisoners, who were then forced "walk the plank". In a holodeck scenario featuring such an event, Commander William Riker requested that the crew first "extend the plank" before playfully requesting the computer to "remove the plank," after which Captain Jean-Luc Picard corrected his first officer, stating the correct saying was "retract the plank." - Plank is a character in AdventureQuest Worlds.
- The Plank is a weapon found in Zombie Panic: Source, which is simply a small, flat, broken piece of wood which deals low damage and has short range, but the fastest swing speed in the game.
It is massively questioned whether Plank really is alive or not due to the various implications of Plank moving, such as the scene in "Gimme, Gimme Never Ed." In the episode, Eddy seems to dislike him for hurting him in various ways. Plank is somehow enrolled in Peach Creek Jr. High and plays on the football team. In "Too Smart for His Own Ed," he participates in the annual school spelling bee (although he gets kicked out in the first round because nobody besides Jonny hears him speak). Plank is almost always seen with Jonny. The two are near-inseparable and do everything together. For example, when Jonny became Captain Melonhead in the episode "Robbin' Ed," Plank became Splinter the Wonderwood, Jonny's sidekick. Plank is implied by Jonny to be a bit of a prankster and a wiseguy, and is often blamed for causing his troublesome predicaments. Jonny is so engrossed in the world of his best friend that he even created parents and friends for Plank out of other pieces of wood laying around.
The whole crew is notified when an officer has forced a player to walk the plank on a ship. The notice includes the name of the player who walked the plank along with the player who issued the command.
* Lazing about excessively
* Not following orders from a commanding officer
* Spamming
* Disconnecting
* Foul language
* Boarding a crew ship without asking permission. (This varies from crew to crew. Some crews/officers don't do this at all, others plank anyone who boards without asking permission immediately.)
* For entertainment purposes/joking around. (One should be certain that the receiving pirate will find the /plank-ing amusing before using /plank in this manner.) Also, some crews may expect an officer who uses the /plank command to say why they used the /plank command on the /crew or /officer channel. (e.g., If a jobber has been causing problems on your ship, they may want to know this so that they can avoid jobbing that pirate on their pillages or to help answer questions from the rest of the crew or the jobber if need be.) Usage /plank Example: /plank Undertow

(Star Trek Generations) Commander Benjamin Sisko ordered a shipment of lumber from Bajor for use in the construction of his Bajoran lightship. (DS9: "Explorers") During a conversation with Maggie O'Halloran, a hologram who lived in 19th century Fair Haven, Harry Kim – whose fictional role was that of a sailor – described that sometimes "during the night watch, with the timbers creaking and the dark water stretching out as far as the eye can see, you can believe you're the only man in the world."
