  • Susumu Katsumata(勝又 進Katsumata Susumu, December 27, 1943 - December 3, 2007) was an award winning Japanese mangaka. He debuted in 1966 in the Garo alternative manga magazine, and in 2006, won the 35th Japanese Cartoonists Association Award Grand prize of 500,000 yen for Red Snow. He was born in Miyagi Prefecture and died in Ōta, Tokyo at the age of 63 of melanoma on December 3, 2007. He is survived by at least one son, Daichi. He graduated from Tokyo University of Education with a degree in physics. He also studied nuclear physics at its post-graduate school.
