  • Commander General Geon Grievous was a military leader in the Clone Wars and the Galactic Civil War whose career spanned thirty years, and was known for his tactical skill as well as droid-like visage. He served as the Commander General of the Imperial Army from 12 BBY until his death in 0 ABY. After serving the Confederacy of Independent Systems as General Grievous, he was killed in 19 BBY at the hands of Obi-Wan Kenobi on Utapau, as part of a diversion to end the Clone Wars. His remains would be recovered and preserved by the Grand Army of the Republic, and were placed into storage at the orders of top leadership, who had admired his efforts during the war. He was eventually resurrected at the orders of Emperor Palpatine, with his armor having been restored, organs replaced, and his nervous system re-animated, and the Commander General rank was created especially for him. Grievous was generally assigned to Outer Rim activities by Governor Tarkin until his failure to hold the blockade over Tatooine, after which he was increasingly sidelined. Grievous grew resentful of the planet and thus insisted on his involvement in the later Tatooine War, where he lead Stormtroopers and relict Droids out, and even slaughtered Jawas needlessly. He was eventually defeated by Nero Nishi, who had extensively studied Grievious' warfare tactics and emulated him. His death preceded the Battle of Yavin by only a few months.
