En la tradición judía se sugiere, entre varias alternativas, que Nadab y Abiú estaban intoxicados por alguna bebida, porque inmediatamente después de narrarse el suceso se establece una prohibición a los sacerdotes en cuanto a tomar vino (Lv 10.8–9).
