abstract
  • Diane Hall (née Gwynfor; born 17th December 1968) is the current Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Rainier, elected in 2012. She became the leader of the National Union Party in 2009, and previously served in the Carwyn Maddock government as Minister of Social Welfare between 1999-2003 and the Leader of the Opposition between 2009-2012. She also serves as the Member of Parliament for the constituency of Wallowa since 1998. Born in Moscow in 1968, Hall was a corporate lawyer until being elected to the Rainain parliament in the 1998 election, before being appointed to Maddock government as the Minister of Social Welfare in 1999 and Minister of the Justice in 2002, serving until 2003 when the NUP lost to Hannah Kwong's Labour party in the election that year. She sat on the back benches until 2007 when she made a political comeback, being appointed deputy leader of the National Union Party that year. In 2009 she was elected as a Chairperson of the National Union Party and thus became the Leader of the Opposition within the Rainian parliament. In the 2012 general election she campaigned on welfare and taxation reform, cutting immigration and dealing with Rainiers high unemployment. The NUP won the election after 9 years of Labour rule, forming a coalition government between the NUP and the Radical Party. Since becoming Prime Minister, Hall has implemented a new immigration system, privatising government owned corporations and expanding social programmes. A self identified one-nation conservative, Hall has been called a liberal conservative and a red Tory, being on the left of her party.
