Mezzileen had ordered the arrest of all Jedi and their Temple came under siege, but the Jedi were able to escape due to the incompetence of the Republic commanders. The Jedi fled to their base on Ossus and Koon was despatched with a fleet to crush the Jedi revolt. Determined not to suffer the same fate as other commanders who failed Chancellor Mezzileen, Koon launched a strategic strike against the Jedi supply depot and succeeded in taking it out. After several days the Jedi attempted a breakout and Koon prepared to wipe them out but the arrival of an enemy fleet forced him to withdraw from Ossus with heavy losses, and in disgrace. Determined not to suffer humiliation and exile, Koon avoided contact with his superiors and gathered forces to retaliate against the newly created Jedi Coalition. After months of waiting the chance came, and Koon led his fleet to a spectacular victory at Gyndine, devastating the shipyards and forcing the planet back into the Republic's fold. Koon was rewarded for his actions and given command of a new fleet and sent with Mezzileen's advisor Lady Ugra to track down a Coalition fleet in the Mid Rim.
