She played Denise in two pre-recorded Gregory Keen adventure serials, Two Roads to Samarra (1959-1960) and The Smell of Terror (1960-1961). Salter moved to England with then-husband John Meillon around 1960. She landed roles on several BBC radio series with Australian casts or themes, including The Flying Doctor (1960-1962, as Rosie and guest characters), Flynn (1963, as Rosetta Flynn), and Clancy of the Outback (1963, as Kitty Elliott). She also appeared on television in episodes of ITV Play of the Week and Scales of Justice (both 1963). After returning to Australia in the mid sixties, Salter was a regular (often singing) on the TV variety series The Mavis Brumston Show (in the 1964 pilot, then 1965-1967). She had a stint on the soap Neighbors and running parts on The Restless Years (1977-1981) as teacher Miss Mackenzie and A Country Practice (1983-1990) as matron Hilda Arrowsmith. Her last role was a recurring part on the second season of Return to Treasure Island (2000) as Mrs. Silver, wife of Long John.
